Amazing Place to stay, quite unique. We Loved it!
The owners are so welcoming and they add to the castle’s warmth and made our stay wonderful. We would snd possibly will be staying here again. We had a lovely room, great breakfasts and a fantastic tour of the castle by John whose knowledge of the history of the castle was awesome. Fab, Fab, Fab!

Beautiful stunning venue. Only gripe is some of the finishing touches weren't up the same standard as the rest. Cheap shampoo, wall decor mirrors etc. I'd still highly recommend. Just a shame when the finishing touches let what is a historic and amazing place down.

What an amazing discovery! My wife and I were gifted a tour followed by a Cream tea at this amazing place.
Our guide, a thoroughly knowledgeable gentleman described in great detail the historical facts about the Castle and surrounding areas during its long history dating back to Saxon times.
Stories were shared about some of the characters portrayed in the paintings throughout the castle.
Well worth the time to visit this amazing place, you won't be disappointed.
There are hidden surprises awaiting those who choose to visit this Castle. I will let you discover these delights yourself!

After an initial email regarding a wedding brochure, we were subjected to repeated calls at silly times which scared us off. After more calls we where contacted on a different mobile number and interrogated about the venue we had eventually booked. We also received a lovely, patronising comment about how we seemed nice previously via call. After being called back by myself (groom) I questioned them to see if they find this acceptable. In her response,
they where extremely defensive and informed me of the 20+ years of customer service experience and the ‘700 amazing weddings’ they have held…..
Unfortunately I feel you guys should be subject to more customer service training and learn the art of respect!

Also as I have seen your previous defensive (rude) review response and the working class comments, as a business owner myself I would be more than happy to give you a lesson on how to treat potential clients.

Lovely historic place with great story. Nice setting along the river Exe and pleasant gardens to sit in. Guided tour was well done. Cream tea on offer, but no real cafe facilities or choice of food.

My wife and I visited Bickleigh Castle for a Castle Tour and cream tea experience in October 2022.

The grounds and castle have a lot of character and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging - he clearly knew and enjoyed speaking about the history of the castle. For us, we particularly enjoyed seeing the chapel, walled garden and the armoury. The tour lasted almost 1.5 hours overall.

The cream tea was lovely - the scones were baked by a local bakery, and there were very generous helpings of clotted cream and jam, plus a whole pot of tea and a pot of coffee between the two of us. The staff were also very attentive and service was very good. The cream teas were served in a lovely wooden conservatory area near the main bar (which was not open as I assume it is used just for weddings).

The only suggestions we would make (which are not major by any means but are more just observations from similar experiences in other similar venues in the past) are that perhaps smaller tables of 2/4 are set up for the cream teas, rather than the few large tables, and it would have been lovely to perhaps have a small menu of other things to purchase as well (eg drinks and sandwiches / paninis).

Fantastic place lovely people great breakfast and loved that we were right by a castle and all the history, great wedding venue.
