Bury St Edmunds Guildhall - Oldest provincial civic building in England.
This magnificent building has stood here since at least 1220. Worth to visit as it is within city centre of Bury St Edmunds. Amazing how well preserved building look like.

Great place for a wedding reception with lovely garden and nice sized rooms wouldn't believe you were in the middle of Bury St Edmunds

Important part to the history of Eastern England in the past and more recently during WWII. Great knowledge and explanation by the guide. Certainly don't miss if you are visiting the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. 👍

An incredibly well kept war-time secret, the guildhall houses the last surviving Royal Observer Corp's WW2 Operations Room. This room and others like it were part of the full time defensive system that watched the skies 24/7 all through WW2. Well worth a visit!

Last month my husband and I held our wedding at the Guildhall. The venue is gorgeous - plenty of character, yet functional and spacious, with a lovely garden for photos. The general manager was friendly and forthcoming and provided invaluable guidance in helping us plan our day. Would recommend for any function.

I had a great experience at the open day. I have liveed in BSE from birth and have never realised it had an ops room. Plenty of history also. Worth a visit 👍

Popped in unexpectedly on Sunday for the Heritage Open Day as I was passing by. A charming gem of a building and gardens. The volunteer guides were very welcoming, the herb garden is amazing and the lady that maintains it so knowledgeable. Didn't have time to properly see the war rooms so will have to go back another time.

Suddenly the Guildhall seems to have woken up....lately I visited an art exhibition....the building has had a face lift.....we should use these spaces more than we do........I am biased....my elder daughter had her 18th birthday celebration here in 1996.....lovely!
