Our son and now daughter in law held their wedding here and the place and staff really made the day. From arriving to leaving the following day it went like clockwork. Good food / drinks and facilities were spot on, as were the staff, who know how to treat everyone. Everything the happy couple wanted they got. Everyone who attended had no complaints. Some very happy memories made here for so many people. A big round of applause for making their day special.

June last year we came to view your premises for a potential wedding venue. We had already looked at several other venues but from the minute we walked in we just knew that Slaters was the place we wanted to have our special day, and on Saturday 24th September 2022 we had our magical day. Staff from the off went above and beyond to help wherever they could. Everything ran smoothly and looked amazing. The food was delicious and went down a treat. We couldn’t thank you enough for helping us to have the most amazing day that we will never forget.

Had dinner 1-10-22 and stayed b & b 4-10-22.
Food and service excellent. Accommodation staff just had the edge on the restaurant staff for a kind and helpful approach to visitors.
Did find the bar lighting a little gloomy. All round highly recommended and would stay there again when in the area.

Passing through area called in to see friend's having lunch. Enjoyed the experience. I lived in Baldwins Gate many years ago and was around when Slaters first opened, spent many happy evenings there. Impressed by all the new facility's well done.

The place needs a massive overhaul.
Beds old and uncomfortable.
Noisy old doors make for slamming so expect to not sleep till late and be awoken early. Actually the place is super noisy with thin walls. Last time I stayed there was a party in the room next to me till 2:30 in the morning in which I complained but no care taken.
The decor is very Nanna and caught in the 80s.
The restaurant is average so best eat at the Block House 5 minutes away.
Most positive thing is an average fry up is included.
This is supposed to be a local upmarket wedding venue but it’s more like for those on a super low budget.
Try Premier Inn first.
I laughed most at the oversize key ring. You probably won’t lose that in a hurry. 😂
If I’d paid £30 for the night I’d still feel underwhelmed.

Definitely need more options for vegetarians. They do a fantastic Sunday roast that I wish I could have been offered with a nut roast or a quorn fillet maybe? Or even just some veggie stuffing would have been nice. The place is lovely just a bit old fashioned and our waiting on person was very quiet and seemed very unsure of what they were doing.

We had to find a place to stay very last minute on a cold and late night - stumbled across here and it was perfect. Very comfortable bed, heated towel racks, powerful water pressure in the shower, and English breakfast included the next morning!

Absolutely above and beyond service from Tom. I phoned ahead because I was going to be late and miss check in, he said he would leave my room key somewhere for me. When I eventually got there he was waiting for me in the bar and said 'if I'd had that journey, I'd have wanted a beer too'. What a man! That's truly beyond the call of duty! Thank you again!

The room itself was lovely, comfortable and warm despite it being -3 outside and the shower was great which is always important to me in hotel.

If I'm in the area I'll be back for sure!
