The cottage is nice with a modern kitchen and bathroom but February was not the time to go as it was too cold inside with radiators that didn't work. We were provided with some heaters but we did feel the cold. If you go as a couple it's fine as the big bed is comfy enough and one of the sofas is fine but the two single beds need new mattresses and our 11-year old found noth of the single beds too uncomfortable to sleep in, so we all bunked up together in the big bed! Downstairs the other bed-settee has collapsed a bit so it wasn't very good to sit on. The owners might address these issues before the main season, so it may well be fine in the summer - and the cold won't be an issue then. With regards to things to do in the area there isn't much for kids to do but there would be some nice walks in the warmer weather. There isn't much to do in the colder weather but we just wanted somewhere to get away from work for a few days and this place was laid-back and quiet, which was nice. A final thought - if you will be relying on the WiFi for work or whatever be aware that the signal here is poor and my 4G couldn't pick up a signal in the area either. The owners and staff who run the cottages are lovely so I do hope they are not offended by any of my review comments - there are lots of positives about these quaint barn conversions.

The cottages are beautifully well kept and the site is very welcoming, however there is barely any heating for the colder months. I suggest visiting in the warmer months as most walks were boggy and flooded.

We had a wonderful stay here, we had an issue (not the owners fault) which they handled very well, if you want a cottage off the beaten track in a quiet setting this is for you!

My son and I spent 5 days in this beautiful cottage, it was a shame we had to leave. Lovely owners who went out of their way to help us. Excellent customer service from everyone there. Extremely clean and tidy set in beautiful grounds. Extremely comfortable beds and living room furniture. Very cosy at night with a fire lit, the owners provided everything we needed and even taught me how to make the fire 😅. I would recommend anyone to go to this lovely holiday destination.

We spent a long weekend in The Threshing Barn in early October for our annual Derbyshire family reunion - unfortunately not all of us could stay together due to the COVID restrictions, but we still had a fantastic time. The Barn is extremely spacious and comfortable, with probably one of the best equipped kitchens we've had in a holiday cottage. Elaine and Greg were really helpful and friendly. So good we hope to return next year, fingers crossed rather more en masse!

Lovely property, with 4 good bedrooms all with ensuites. Well equipped, and close (by car) to calke abbey. Great location if you fancy a walk! We enjoyed our stay, (party of 11 with wide range of ages from 4 to 65) and would happily go back.
