Wheeldon Mill Lock

Lovely walk from the Tapton Lock visitors centre along the Chesterfield canal. Really close to a busy town, but at moments, you could be in the middle of nowhere!

One of my favourite places to run. Lot's of wildlife too.

A beautiful setting for sitting on the bench beside the lock listening to the flow of water. This is the only lock on the Western Side of the Chesterfield Canal that has the original natural stone by-wash, fascinating to watch the water track from left to right.
A spot that is a favourite with the ducks so why not feed them with food they flourish on - Rice, Lettuce, Oats, Corn, Grapes - NO BREAD.
Easy access with Car Parking for five vehicles via Newbridge Lane, or a short walk from the Car Park on Brimington Road, next to the Mill Pub.
You can walk either way from here to either Tapton Lock or Hollingwood Hub, both with Cafe's.

Nice fishing near by

As part of the Chesterfield canal system you can rest here and take time out for quiet reflection, marvel at the engineering of past generations or enjoy the wildlife.

Great place for a wander with the dog even if it’s 10 mins or an hour.

Beautiful location with plenty of walking trails. Seating if you want to rest and watch nature for a while.
