Look no further for true country hospitality here! Came upon this lovely venue when searching for a mid way pit stop between Cambridge and Stratford-upon-Avon and discovered the customer service is AAA+! I was made aware it is under new management and the manager/publican Tony was especially friendly and welcoming, even assisting us with our bags from our car parked across the street. These kinds of service enhancements and first impressions in budget accomodation truly standout and are much appreciated! Tony settled us into our room nicely which was very pleasant and comfortable. The period features of this 1650 inn add to its charm and character and make it worth the visit also. I loved ducking under the low ceiling beams and traipsing along the winding corridors to our upstairs room. There is a short walk to a nearby woodland park area which was lovely to stroll about too. Slept very well and our made to order English breakfast was generous and so delicious. Be sure to relax and enjoy a drink whilst having a chat with the lovely young bar manager ‘Meg’, she will delight your eyes and ears with her beauty and friendly conversation. We wish them well for their future in developing the inn and gladly recommend! ~ Linda & Susan from Australia

I am so disappointed! I never have given a bad review but I have to for how me and my friends were treated in this pub. I couldn't even muster as low as 1 star because I've never given so low, but honestly the attitude by what I assume it be the land lady here was utterly disgusting. Me and my mates are Brummies and are are used to friendly atmospheres and lovely staff, but here we were made to feel so out of place. The only saving grace was the pub was beautiful and thankfully for the owners of this pub their predecessors have saved them from an even lower review.

Upon entering the empty pub, we had to wait 5 minutes, which feels a long time when you're waiting, just to get acknowledged by the bar lady. We asked simply "are you serving food at the moment", to which she replied "our kitchen has been closed for 2 hours". This was at about 1830. It was an unnecessary rude experience and just not needed.

I stayed the night room was spacious and clean well prepared the land lady was friendly and served us well.

On reading the other reviews above I notice the guy complaining about being charged for a room after staying an hour I'm not surprised you book a room for the night not by the hour .

Also someone informing you that the kitchen closed 2 hours ago is not rude but factual.

I noticed a kebab house and a Chinese across the road from the pub and to your right as you leave the pub there's a domino's and a steak and grill restaurant a 2 min walk down the road .

Honestly I don't know what's wrong with people now a days she's not rude .

That's he personality and at the price they charge its alot cleaner and quieter then most main stream places .

Only stayed overnight as we was attending a wedding down the road.we didn't eat or drink here as we was in a hurry but the room we booked was clean and up to the standard we expect from a pub would've had a drink as bar looked great.overall would definitely return

It was dirty it was disgusting. The tables wasn’t clean and I didn’t have a drink because there was a dirt on my grass. It’s not a very friendly pop over

Great little old pub, with a good selection of beers and wines available. Cracking atmosphere at night. Spent a weekend in here and loved every minute. Big thanks to the great staff. Will come here again the next time were down this way.
