Delicious food and friendly service!
The Trading House occupies the former home of the Bank of New Zealand and has been sensitively refurbished as a bar and restaurant.
A variety of stuffed animals adorn the wood-panelled walls.
A great outing in the city.

Love the decor. Lovely big open bar with high roof so nice and cool and shaded in hot days.
Surprisingly quiet on Monday when we visited so even better. Beer nice too. Moving from West End to City end of year so just found my new work local.

I usually take my international clients to the Trading House for its lovely decor and vibe. Unfortunately, this trip has completely soured the place and I shall not be returning. Upon arrival I ordered 2 beers for myself and my client at the bar. When the bartender (dark hailed male with septum piercing) presented me with the card machine the price was £14.63. I hesitated to pay as how could 2 beers equals an odd number? (Half a penny?). He explained that the machine "Automatically added a service charge" despite me ordering at the bar. He told me that the manager would have to be called to retract the service charge and not wanting to cause a scene I reluctantly paid the £7.315p charge for each beer. Standing at the bar and watching other customers order, I realised that this charge was optional, and customers had the chance to decline it at point of sale. I had no such choice. I feel this barman is adding service charge to peoples bills to rack up his own tips and I felt robbed. Unfortunately, this dishonesty means that I won't be returning, nor recommending The Trading House going forward.

A very good place right in the area for a quick drink after work. Nice ambience and friendly bar staff. Good food if you fancy something to eat. Gets busy at times and mostly can get a place to grab food if you walk-in.

Terrible food, do not waste your money, there are plenty of other places locally that are much better. Just read another review as well about their “famous turkey kebab”. They are absolutely correct it was disgusting. Famous for being the worst food ever.

Quite possibly the worst margarita I have ever had in my life, to the point where I couldn’t bring myself to drink it and didn’t even want to stay there. We should have known better though - it stank of chip fat when we walked in and the taxidermy on the walls were horrifying and dirty looking. Really odd because friends who work nearby recommended it, so they must be doing something right, but it was all so wrong for us.

Good bar staff great beers and impressive interior makes the visit a great experience,. Do try the Munich Gold beer, it's not served everywhere and it's great.
