We stopped here for lunch after sightseeing. It was a perfect, sunny day between Christmas and New Years so everyone was out and about. Parking lot was full so we parked a few streets away. This of course was the first sign that the restaurant was full. We were lucky and they had a table available for the 5 of us. We didn’t realize it was self-service so you have to order and pay upfront at the bar. The food took more than 1 hour and this killed our chance to visit another nearby castle. However, the meals were extremely delicious so i guess it was worth the long wait!

Beautiful Country pub, lovely atmosphere. Service good, pleasant and attentive staff. Well set out tables and chairs, good decor. Prices are good.
A nice variety of food, macaroni cheese, fresh bread and salad was to die for.
Sausage mash and onion gravy looked loved.
Various sweets, rhubarb crumble, not the normal sweets, home made.
Nice ambiance, olde worlde pub.
Will definitely be going there again in Wateringbury. A

Lovely little pub nestled away in the Kent countryside. Spoiler alert - the steak and kidney pie is the BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN! Except mum's, of course. It was packed with delicious meat, just the right amount of juice, and the pastry was to die for! It came with a selection of veggies, also delicious, and I washed it down with a lovely pint. Very friendly staff, and extremely reasonably priced! Thank you for a wonderful experience.

NOT DOG FRIENDLY. I arranged to meet friends for Sunday lunch but was turned away because I had my Labrador with me. They told me they do not allow dogs ON SUNDAYS and the guy was pretty rude about it. Their website says they are dog friendly and even details the rules for dining with dogs. They are also recommended as dog friendly on a number of third-party sites. Many people have seen dogs in the pub. Seems this is a new rule or perhaps an arbitrary one that they only enforce when they feel like it. Who knows - who cares. They ruined my Sunday and seemed to enjoy doing so 😒 🙄 🙃

Had my birthday meal with 11 family members.. the pub was lovely and cosy, the staff warm and welcoming and all of our food was delicious! Plenty of options on the menu and very reasonably priced. We were all happy and said how we will definitely be visiting again.

Dirty table on arrival , sticky all over asked for it to be cleaned which they did promptly. Part of a big group, pre-ordered food everyone got what they ordered. Big portions , lots of peas. Food was quite nice , some bits very oily. Overall not bad better than Toby type pubs
