This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service. The interior has historic exposed beams, an open fire, heavy wooden tables and very tasteful decor. The cocktails are outstanding! Truly excellent mixology. The food is good - but not as good as expected. The burger was overdone, the sole was slightly undercooked, the oysters were small and had a milky deposit on one I’ve never seen in an oyster before. We were brought the three fish dishes with regular sides instead of the Sunday roast sides as was offered and requested. Our food was also served at different times due to the dietary requirements of one. I think this place is amazing though and want to come back to retry the food as the sprays were excellent. The rooms of the restaurant are divided up in a way that they feel intimate despite having plenty of spaces. The bathrooms are very ‘pub’ style - they don’t do the restaurant justice in terms of space, fittings, comfort, capacity or class. I’ll be back.

A very pleasant end to a circular walk around the Oare Marshes. It's quite a food oriented pub but there certainly is space just to sit and have a beer (and this was a Sunday afternoon).

There is a pleasant multi-levelled garden out the back with views towards the east - not the most beautiful view but it's a pleasant place to sit.

It is, of course, a Sheps house with their usual range: Master Brew and Whitstable Bay Pale Ale on the pumps. Bottled 1698 available but only from the fridge.

Definitely a welcome end of a walk to the Swale and back and friendly welcoming staff.

Fabulous meal. We were able to get a table without having booked, had a great location near the real fire. Lovely atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Fish dishes are recommended. Good wine too.

We were greeted at the door by a lovely lady (staff member) who was very welcoming and showed us to our table that we had booked. The 18th century building was absolutely stunning and was modern with a very warming rustic feeling. The pub/restaurant was fully light with candles, oil lamps and open fires (for a night) in retaliation to the energy bill rises, and what a brilliant idea it was. The place was busy with a great atmosphere, and people ate their dinner in the candle light whilst listening to a talented musician/singer with his acoustic guitar. The was brilliant and very well priced at 3 courses for just £25 (I would of quite happily of paid more!). The service was brilliant. The land/lord and lady came and spent some time with us, which we soon found out that they had only been there approx a year.... wow. They are doing a truly tremendous job, and we wish these guys the very best for the future. Me and my wife have finally found a place to retreat to after a hard day. Thank you so much. The only issue/problem I had, was not being able to give 6 stars!

This is a beautiful gastro pub with a wonderful atmosphere. The owners and staff are so kind and welcoming, and the manager, Jack is incredibly charming and knowledgeable about wine in particular. The events are worth travelling for; I don’t even live local but every time I visit it’s such a nice experience 👌

Loving setting, great food and really attentive and kind staff. The day my family and I went though they had very limited kitchen staff and the wait for the food to come was quite long. We would have had dessert but didn’t fancy the long wait. I’m sure we came on a day they were short so I’d certainly recommend going here. The oysters and scallops were superb. The amount of scallops you got in the starter portion was brilliant. The Guinness was also very good which can’t be said for a lot of pubs.
