Great roast. Lovely piece of fish also, Hake with Fennel was banging. Amazing bread and butter my missus would kill for again and a lovely glass of wine. Our server was lovely also and the settings of the village are idyllic.

The service was superb. Really appreciated our waitress being able to describe the menu. We had tapas which turned out to be both tasty and sufficient. The dishes were beautifully prepared and brought out in stages. The menu was limited to the tapas but who cares when the food is so delicious. We arrived after eight and things were quiet. A pity as people are missing a treat.

Oh how I wished I'd read the reviews before spending £70 on a very small, over priced dinner for two. The beetroot starter lovely. The chicken and leek pie, well there was more pastry on this very shallow dish which is normally used for vegetables. Hardly any filling, chicken a few tiny pieces, leeks hardly any, at £18 I felt ripped off. Chicken thighs are not expensive nor are leeks how you could charge this price is beyond me! I mentioned to the waitress who was pleasant but she brushed it off also when I asked why no side dishes off vegetables, she said there was leek in the pie! Well we won't be returning for food that's for sure at £70 total served on the smallest plates ever, e.g. side tea plates. My partners main dish was awful. No finesse to what was a barley risotto with mushrooms which were far too chunky. The menu is minimal. Apparently the owner used to run a London food establishment well he'd best change his ways if he wants to survive in a small village with a limited menu and very over-priced food. We lasted just under and hour and could not wait to leave this pub. The nice touch a hand written bill but perhaps less time spent on this and more time sorting out the dishes/menu would be time more well spent.

Warm welcome not matched by ambient temperature inside. Very limited, expensive menu choices from which were not executed well. Should have gone with our gut feeling to leave without ordering, certainly won't be returning in a hurry.

Great country pub to stop in and have a bite to eat and a drink. Good stock of local drinks and the staff make you feel really welcome.

The menu is small but very well done. We had a couple of small plates and they were delicious.

I'm not just saying this because I was incredibly hungover, but this is one of my favourite pubs I've been to.

We walked in on new year's day without a booking and, although the place was full, the landlady was incredibly warm and welcoming, and found us a spot at the bar by the fire. She was patiently and diligently training a new starter who was also excellent.

The interior is comfortable, with enough 'proper pub' to satisfy traditionalists and just enough 'gastro' to satisfy a younger crowd. I loved that the plates were mismatched and seemed to be collected over years - it was a nice addition to the personality of the pub.

Now onto the food. Bravo. So good. We had fried chicken pieces and wings with chips, coleslaw, mac n cheese and olives. Portions were generous and we were pleasantly surprised at the bill at the end. We couldn't bring ourselves to drink alcohol due to the night we'd had before but the range of beers looked great and sitting at the bar we overheard great things about the Bloody Mary's.

We stupidly forgot to tip but I want to spend every hangover eating everything here so we will be back time and time again.

We had a lovely afternoon here, sadly arrived too late for a meal as we couldn't make it until after 3pm, however we called ahead and the wonderful lady at the bar saved us a table and also promised she would try and get us fed something! They did not disappoint. Perfect parfait, delicious sourdough, cods roe and crisps pork and pickle - all paired with a beautiful local wine. Lush interior and a cute village to ramble around after our feast. This pub oozes with the love of a chef, everyone who attends benefits from being a part of someone's dream, not job. Love it.
