The best pub in Canterbury with great links to the student and local community. Bar staff always friendly and there is always a buzzing atmosphere. Great daily drinks deals and a good selection of beer on tap!

The Jolly is considered a home pub by several Canterbury sports teams and also by several the local university's sports team. The landlord is an absolute gent and is always on hand to help with anything and everything. The manager and staff are all extremely polite and very knowledgeable.

In addition the Wild Food menu available offers dishes i am yet to see in other venues anywhere in Canterbury.

Well known for its cocktail the bloody cutlass on thursdays!

Also considered a home pub by the local Army regiment and visiting units

I visited on a Saturday night with a group of 8 friends. Within 5 minutes of being there a group of rowdy university students chucked a pint of beer into the air at our group, sadly drenching one of the females we were with. We only stayed for one drink, as we then realised that one of our groups jackets had been stolen from a hook on the bar. The jacket was worth a few hundred pound and although the staff were kind, it soon became apparent there was nothing that can be done. The chap admitted to us that the CCTV doesn't record, it only transmits the footage to the council, some sort of alcohol licensing rule. I would stay well clear of this place.

Great vibes, great bartender, cool outside area with a lot of room and very affordable! We practically had the bar to ourselves and had a blast. They have a jukebox and the bartender gave us free credits! I had a great time!

I went here often during the fall of 2017 when I was living in Canterbury as they show NFL games among their wide variety of sports. The staff was always friendly and accommodating and they really made me feel welcomed! Moreover, The Jolly Sailor has a good amount of beers on tap. I totally recommend visiting if you are in the area!

Been in a couple of times whilst waiting for food round the corner but went in with a lady friend late afternoon to be told I was not to be served in jogging pants. They were a slim fit plain dark grey practically a pair of suit trousers and I was told I cannot be served I was highly shocked and embarrassed there was only 2 other people in the place.

Depending on when you go the atmosphere can be varied, it's good for a relaxed environment but at other times it's good for a more social environment with uni socials going on. Reasonably priced and a good selection. Function rooms are also good

Was a fantastic pub run by one of the best landlords around. My dad frequented here enough to have a plaque in the corner of the bar and part of him might be secretly buried in the beer garden. Memories oh memories.
