Discovered this lovely pub today. I have just been served the best pint of Courage Directors that I have had in 20+ years.

Staff were friendly, welcoming & knowledgeable. The specials menu had some great options & ingredients locally sourced where possible. Excellent food and good atmosphere. A proper pub. Recommended

Not open when advertised but clearly people in there, perhaps if there had been a notice on the door explaining why it was locked it would have helped. As a tourist we found an excellent micropub called the Waterworks

I had a beer in here yesterday. It's within eyesight of Rye station and various bus stops. It's a Shep's house. Very nice beer looove warm fire in the harth... Would go back.

My partner and I came in for lunch, only we had came in too late for a full English :( the lovely staff said that they were happy to still make this for us! They also ensured that the fire was kept burning to keep us warm!!

I can’t stress enough how welcoming this pub family were. I would highly recommend too all!

Not too much to say about this friendly community pub other than that it's a solid option for unadventurous beer drinkers, just a 2 minute walk from Rye station. Some cask ales, several lagers on offer, traditional pub grub, and a two-bench outside seating are to the front/side. Friendly staff, this is a place to linger over a number of pints. Prices are as expected in the area (the popular model medieval of Rye). Named "Cinque Ports" after the street it's on, which in turn alludes to Rye's former historical significance as one of the "five important ports" in the area. Craft beer drinkers should opt for the nearby "Waterworks" micro pub instead.

Had a lovely Sunday roast of beef, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roast potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower cheese, mashed swede, parsnips, peas and sprouts.
Friendly staff, great service, clean and tidy pub and smart and clean toilets...
