Went there for lunch on Easter Sunday . We hadn't booked but were given a table . The decor was to our taste and the food was excellent and fresh . The service was attentive and not too slow. We had a main dish and two of us had dessert ( cheesecake and trio of sorbet ). Apéritive and 1.5 pint of peroni and the overall bill came up to £81 , which I think is reasonable . O wouldn't hesitate to go there again / recommend the place .

Absolutely delicious food, very friendly staff. Been visiting this pub for 10 years, maybe more.
Only downside, was the wait time for our food. We all noticed that people who arrived after were being served before us. Sadly we feel we were waiting an unreasonable amount of time for our food.
The chocolate flower pot was amazing

English: The food was delicious. My wife was very happy with what she had. The Seared Seabass that I had was too seared for me. There was no taste but the burn on the outside of the fish. Presentation was perfect. Compliment to the chef. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staffs. I would recommend that you eat here.

Lovely pub and garden. The staff are really helpful and patient. The meals we had were tasty and reasonably priced. There were a few families dining there, it seems very child friendly. I especially liked that the dining tables are not all crammed together - there is lots of room. Well worth a visit after a long walk in the hills nearby.

The castle is wonderful, it's actually part of the Inn Collection company, which if you're not familiar with have a very high standard of food, drink, staff and premises! Huge drink selections, including spirits, cocktails, local real ales, bottles, wonderful food cooked all day (vegan and gluten free options too!) and the building itself if superb, decorated to a modern but classy high standard, right in the heart of Castleton and there's a nice outside area too if the weather's good! They are dog friendly and wheelchair accessible, definitely worth a visit while you're in castleton, even for a drink to end the night you can't go wrong really!

I have grown considerably fond of this place. First experienced with my closest friend after a lengthy wet walk, we resided by the fireplace and played chess. After the wonderful evening we returned the following 5 nights and tried all menu items and were taken by them all. 10/10. Unfortunately I lost to my good friend 11-1 in Chess.

On this occasion, I bought my partner and dog as we celebrated an anniversary, passed car test and bday. Extremely friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They made it feel personal and allowed my dog a treat and reserved my favourite table.

If you're in Castleton, stop by. Seriously.

Please bring the board game rack back, chess by the fireplace whilst tucking in makes this place feel like home.

I will return, and thank you to all there.

Really nice food at reasonable prices.
I had the lasagne and sticky toffee pudding.
Lovely building and decor.
Service was great.

Lovely little pub in Castleton, full of character and cosiness! We got sat by the fire with some mulled wine and it was so warming after a long day in the snow. It's a shame they weren't doing food and shut at 9 due to staff shortages as it was probably our favourite pub yet. Would certainly recommend!
