Very nice traditional country village pub - beams, horse brasses, etc. you know the sort of thing - with two small bar areas (filled with locals), bar dining area and separate dining room. Warm welcome even though we arrived just before the kitchen closed. Beers on offer were Black Sheep Ale (Yorkshire Ales) which was very good indeed, Cotleigh Barn Owl and Palmers Copper Ale. The fourth, Butcombe, had the clip turned round. On the downside, as far as my wife was concerned, was that only three white wines were on offer and the one she chose was very warm. The food was plentiful and very tasty (although my scampi had obviously been cooked in oil used to cook something else, giving the scampi a strange taste). All in all above average and very good value for money - 2 pints, 2 large wines and 2 meals for just £32. Only criticism was the smell of smoke wafting through from wherever the smokers are relegated to these days - it just wasn't far enough away.

A great pub. The locals made us feel very welcome. Reasonable prices and good food, and well looked after ales. What more can you ask? Wish we had a pub like this close to us!

Lovely Sunday lunch here today. Choice of three meats, Beef, Pork or Chicken with plenty of vegetables. Friendly, efficient staff, good service and a very friendly landlady. Would definitely recommend.

It was a very nice pub that you could go for a drink and have a meal but the meals never took over if you only went for a drink.

Home made it was not frozen veg mash spud was smash think the meat was from a tin. Will not visit again. All the veg grown in Somerset why not get some locally. Only thing that was good was the atmosphere.

This is a cracking rural pub. Always a warm welcome especially on Dark winter evenings. Gentile pub banter. Dogs and well behaved owners are made very welcome.
One thing you can be assured of is the best pint of Guiness available anywhere.
