It has all the potential to be a great place, BUT the attention to detail is poor to non-existent. The interior is very inviting and well styled as a country pub, but the courtyard area feels like it’s lacking that same TLC. Just a note: could also do with a wipe down before customers go there.

The beer selection is great and they have an excellent selection of gin . If cider is your thing, I would highly recommend their cloudy Rhubarb.

The food sadly wasn’t what we expected. We ordered what seemed like a really nice veg burger (goats cheese, beet and bean with slaw). The patty was superb, the goats cheese was a nice touch, however the bun was horrid! It was dry and hard like old stale bread. The fries were done well, but tasted like fish, so I can only assume they cook their fries in the same oil as last nights fish dishes. Their prices certainly aren’t cheap either, for two burgers, a gin and cider the bill came to £33 - quite pricy for a country pub so I would have expected the food to be great.

Overall, I wish I could give it more than 3 stars, because as a bar, its selection and atmosphere is good but as a restaurant it’s sadly lacking. I do think with just a little attention to the food they could turn it around - if they do, I’ll certainly be back.

Great staff, very attentive service let down by the chef, steak dinner was full of sinew, badly cooked, goodness knows what cut he served and to top it off, took almost an hour to deliver a simple steak and chips meal.

Kids at McDonald's could produce better - get a grip, this is what closes pubs down.

Sorry to the ladies in the front of house, the back room ruined all your good work.

Kelly and her staff are professional, polite and organised. So welcoming and very friendly. Excellent rooms. Clean and tastefully decorated. I had a double and it was very spacious for such a grade 2 listed 17th century building.

Thank you Kelly for being such a wonderful host.

Really awful. Most of the menu was unavailable, burgers and the advertised specials included. This was early on a Friday evening.
They did have macaroni cheese, my 4th choice from the menu. Honestly, it was dreadful. Watery, floury, a cheap packet sauce mix. Just disgusting. Don't go there.
The waitresses advised "some people like it" before refunding £5.

OMG this is a new level of bad. Like, Fawlty Towers bad.
"Burger please."
"Sorry we haven't got any burgers. Or steak and kidney puddings."
Or either of the advertised specials!
Now, this was on a Friday, early in the evening.
I eventually settled for the macaroni cheese, my partner had some wings / ribs concoction.
His was a bit of an Iceland special, but edible.
The macaroni cheese, on the other hand 🤮🤮
Watery, floury, with a hint of ?vomit. A very cheap packet mix, pot noodle style, made up with LOTS of water. Actually inedible, and I was starving.

Great meal, the burgers are great and my son loved his ham egg & chips, great service and reasonably priced.

Nice quiet, friendly pub. Good range of beer, reasonably priced. Didn't have food so can't comment on that.
