Sorry, but one star and we never even got to have a drink! First night we got to Norwich and we got here at about 8:45pm with our 2 children. Got told by a nice friendly barman that children were not allowed in past 21:00. We thanked him for the information and left. Looked like a nice quiet place and pub and we looked forward to trying it the next day albeit a bit earlier. So tonight we went a lot earlier only to now be told that it is pub policy that any children have to sit in the back room past 6pm ! It isn't the 1990s anymore Greene King ! This is a very antiquated view of children. You were a child once. To be told to be seated out of the way of the other patrons from 6pm is a disgrace when you are paying customers. Good luck if your custom starts to dwindle. You will be wishing those families in !!

I don't know what it is about this place, I mean it's next to a mediumly busy road, and the surrounding buildings aren't the prettiest, but I find the place very relaxing. The locals that frequent the place are friendly, the beer is excellent, and of average price. I have never tried the food but I would expect it to be fairly decent. They have a quiz night on Thursdays and everybody in the bar seems to talk to one another. Most years, my wife and I go to Norwich for a couple of days and I always insist that we have a pint here. It has managed to retain the atmosphere of a pub which so many places are sadly lacking nowadays. Oh, I don't know who is in charge of the music in there, but I always like what I hear. Perhaps it's a pub for old gits like me or something but if you are looking for a pub that really feels like a pub and not some sanitised corporate version, get yourself along to this place. If I lived in Norwich, it would be my local.

Really delicious meal - fantastic Sunday lunch, the staff couldn't do enough for us, especially on a very busy day. Slightly annoyed that we couldn't all sit together hence 4 stars, but we were a party of 10. Food was generously portioned, hot and when we needed more veg we just asked.

A fabulous little find. It felt just like the 'local' pubs of old with lovely staff and customers. A special mention of Simone who was friendly, chatty and welcoming. Great atmosphere and tasty 'homecooked' food with a good selection of vegetarian options. Well worth a visit.

Great little pub, had Sunday lunch a few times now. Food hot and like you’d cook at home, fresh, veg, good quality meat and tasty cauliflower cheese. Really well priced, staff really nice and music always bang on!
If you’ve not been, the your missing a trick.

Solid historic pub, nice billiards table at the back good rotating beer stock. Friendly and helpful staff. Don’t forget to visit in an often forgotten end of the city.
