I chose the Osyter Smack Inn for a self-date night as it was local and had a pleasant looking vegan menu to choose from.

The online booking process was straightforward and upon arrival I was greeted by Dasha, who was polite, professional and friendly.

The drinks and food were reasonably priced and my vegan meal was well presented, brought to my table efficiently and was certainly tasty.

All the staff I engaged with were friendly and helpful and the venue was clean and presentable, with a choice of tables and the atmosphere amongst diners and staff alike was relaxed.

Overall, I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Oyster Smack Inn.

Thank you. 😊

Lovely lunch with friends at this pleasant restaurant. I had seafood platter as a main, the wife had a very nice Lebanese chicken dish (from the specials board) and our friends had sea bass , all followed by nice desert of key lime pie and a honeycomb crunch desert. All very nicely presented and very tasty. Mains could have been a little larger but on the whole all tasty and agreeable! Cider is bottled - nothing on tap but cold Aspals or Cornish, so all good.

An internet search suggested that the Oyster Smack served some of the best oysters in Essex. This is wrong. It should have said that they serve some of the best oysters anywhere. The two of us shared a dozen Maldon fresh oysters as a starter, with just shallots, lemon juice and tabasco. They were sensational. So fresh and so delicious. I followed with fish of the day, skate. This was also excellent. Other main was fish and chips - this was also good but possibly not sensational. Service was friendly too. But the highlight were the oysters - in old Michelin Guide speak - worth a special journey.

Went there recently with friend for lunch and it was brilliant 👏 Oysters were fresh and tasty, sea bass was great too, but I wasn't too keen on pork belly as it came sitting on the top of the mash and covered in sauce so it spoiled the crispness of it and made it soggy. I prefer it all separately and sauce on the side. Seafood was fantastic overall and I HIGHLY recommended this place!! Nice intimate small cosy restaurant 😀

It was our second visit here for Sunday lunch. Great food and the menu always leaves you wanting to come back to try something else. Friendly waiting staff. Very accommodating to our two lurchers. Not normally one for dessert but the key lime pie and cucumber and mint sorbet was delicious. We’ll definitely be back and so will our friends.

I occasionally need to take clients out for lunch and this is the perfect place! Although I haven't been for an evening meal recently they have a great menu with great specials, and also hold themed nights and events throughout the year. The express lunch menu is varied and superb value, the ambience and decor works for both formal and more informal events, and the excellent service is fast and very professional.

Been here multiple times.
Food is great.
Staff are always on hand.
Very clean and tidy.

Great Location to the Town Centre too.

Haven't stayed in the Rooms myself but I had Family stay there earlier this Year as it was near to My Wedding Venue,
Family said the Rooms were lovely.

One of the loveliest pubs. The vegan menu is out of this world (especially the arancinis!) And the wine selection is lovely. Good prices as well.
