We were staying in a B&B just a few minutes walk away and decided to try the pub for our dinner. We were worried a country pub on a Monday night would not be serving food but we were in luck. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and the pub had a great atmosphere. The freshly cooked pub grub was very good. I had hake and ginger fish cakes which came with a baked potato, peas and a very nice salad garnish and mayonnaise. There was a good selection of beers, largers, ciders and wines. This was an all round great experience, the staff the food and the clientele of locals and tourists.

Absolutely wonderful, historic Inn dating to 1110! Once used as a courtroom where prisoners were hung. The original staircase is well worth a look. The staff were wonderful and the food homely and tasty. We didn't see the bedrooms so can't comment. There is outside seating at the front and rear and the whole place has a lovely friendly feeling. It's a must!

Stunning old pub. I've had 2 visits here now and always love coming here after a long ride on the bike. Vegan options available, some killer beer on tap, staff are really friendly and the place is really cool. The beer garden out back is good, and outdoor seating out front too meaning ample seating on a busy day. A must visit to the 900+ year old pub if you're nearby! I'll certainly return on my next ride over that way

Walked the Skirrid and then ate at the pub. It was busy Sunday lunchtime and I was able to eat outside in the gardens with friends and my dog. All staff were polite and helpful. Good was great. Worth a visit lots of history too!

Visited after funeral at St Michael's next door. We shared a lunch buffet which was excellent. All food very fresh and well prepared. Very interesting 900 year - oldest pub in Wales.

Had a 2 night stay here, had a wait of 18 months to get the room, worth the wait, we loved it, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff, nothing was to much trouble, special mention to the two boys that were waiters 11/12 Nov, really well mannered and polite. Food was lovely, quite a few vegetarian options, breakfast was amazing, we will. defiately return again. Also car park to the rear. Loads of nice walks nearby.

Unspoiled and mainly original, this lovely inn has a special history. This is where Judge Jeffreys ('The Hanging Judge') sent serious criminals directly from the courtroom to be hanged from the beam that is still in evidence in this Inn today. Apparently haunted, we were not staying over or even eating at the pub, but we did enjoy some lovely beers by the open fire. Welcoming staff and helpful with answers to questions, it would be a shame to miss this historic inn if you are in the area of Llanvihangel Crucorney.

Absolutely loved our stay here.
We booked all 3 rooms and it was well worth the 6 month wait!
We went on a semi-serious ghost hunt and even as a sceptic I can honestly say that I can not explain some of the happenings!
Top tip, take touch sensitive, light up cat toy balls!
The service from initial inquiry right through to breakfast the next morning was outstanding, we were made to feel very welcome.
Great value for money and a great atmosphere, fully recommended!
