Tindalls Art & Graphics

Lots of great things about the shop it was my first visit today. Super easy to park, very good range of watercolour paints including different brands. I honestly think you would always find what you need, so worth the special drive into town. Sadly today let down by the service. I have been looking at upgrading my watercolour brushes and maybe trying a different brand of paint. I was asking about brushes and explained I wasn’t looking for something mid range, but no real advice was offered. The gentleman behind the till was less than enthusiastic and actually abruptly ignored me while we were in the middle of a conversation to talk to the other staff member who was serving someone else.
I don’t know quite what I did to deserve this and I walked out without any advice and with the feeling of basically being dismissed!
This was a missed opportunity to give some advice and secure a regular customer. I’m a relatively new artist but pretty serious and with money to spend. For me to come into the shop rather than shopping online it’s got to be worth the trip, and personal advice would be the thing that makes me do this rather than going straight to amazon for my supplies.
All that being said it’s contrary to other reviews about staff so perhaps it was just an off day.

I cannot pass an art or guitar shop without wanting to go in, and Tindalls was such a rewarding place to visit! It is the first art shop in the UK that I have found to not only sell graphite drawing blocks but had a choice if them; I usually resort to ordering online from the USA. The staff were highly knowledgeable and friendly, so now I am big fan of this fabulous shop

Really good selection of oil paints and brushes, the new range of Michael Harding paints and mixing mediums is a niche find she was happy to stumble on

The service is always very warm and friendly and the prices are fair especially with the student discount

Well stocked art shop in central Cambridge with all the materials you could wish for your creative practice with a price range for all budgets, though could be pricey for those on limited budgets. Good to see it had a good range of spray paints, though unfortunately not the black gloss I needed. Very spacious interior with whole section for frames, paper and sketch books.

I love this shop. Great to mooch around and get inspired. Usually ends up leaving with something I didn't intend to buy but that is no bad thing.
