Terrible what old people have to go through these days! And that too meted out by large corporates who were probably built by that generation. I opened an account online for my 79 year old mother who has severe mobility problems. She was required to attend an appointment to verify identity and submit proof of address. When I booked the appointment I clarified if a TV license which is issued digitally nowadays, was a valid form of proof of address. I was told this was fine. When my mother and I attended the appointment she was told that the printed version of this was not a valid proof of address. The officer showed me the Bank's KYC guidance/policy on this matter. This did not state that a TV license had to be in printed form. Yet the officer refused to accept it. The inconvenience, distress and angst caused to my elderly mother was deplorable to say the least. And then they claim to be dementia friendly etc etc. What an eye wash!

No staff, third rate service. All working from home. Tried to open an account, can’t process for 2 months.

Awful branch - had to queue over half an hour to close an account following a relatives death, only to be told to make an appointment - earliest being in 6 weeks time. Nat West and Lloyds dealt with the matter more efficiently.

Dreadful branch!
Staff have been cut to the bare bones here. How Barclays have the temerity to call themselves a bank is beyond me.
Long wait always. Asked for an appointment to see a member of the team, told four weeks wait.
They can't even order a bank card.
Don’t bank with Barclays
Leave them.

I have just walked out of the Westwickham branch of Barclays absolutely disgusted at the service I received they actually don’t even deserve one star . Was told I couldn’t pay my money in for breast cancer now at the counter as they were closing it , a gentleman came in behind me and joined the line to use the counter so I walked through to also join the line only to be shouted at by an older lady with long blond hair which was embarrassing and upsetting no customer service skills what so ever .
I then spoke to a small Asian lady and explained I had coins that obviously you are unable to put in through the machine and that the gentleman had joined the line after me and she said no he didn’t ! I was made to feel that I was a liar she then proceeded to say oh well you will have to come back tomorrow!!! Very rude I have never been treated like that in all my life I will never use this branch again.

Received first class service from West Wickham branch yesterday. My mother and I was seen on time and we left having all business sorted out. All staff were welcoming and professional. Special thanks to Harriet and Toni.

I felt like an invalid in there after being marched to a machine to deposit my cheque. I requested to be dealt with by a human being over the counter, the old fashioned way but my fault for not making myself clear. I was only there because the app that I wasted my time downloading would not allow me to deposit a cheque, because I didnt have a current or debit account. And so I reminded why I dread coming to a live barclays branch. I did make it known that I was interested in upgrading my account to one that works on the app, but I knew that was not going to happen today, seeing as the lady that ushered me to paying in machine was focused on actioning the queue behind me. Can't wait to not return again.

Disgraceful slow service. Only one desk open and a queue inside back out to the front of the building....Freezing cold and raining too. Why only one desk open.....? Even with COVID restrictions you could have at least two positions open..
