I rarely write a bad review, but.......I don't know who is writing these glowing reviews, this place is awful. I went there with friends for a celebration. The food was garbage, these people don't know what they're doing. Its advertised as gourmet....whaat?? I had their 'Half Moon Platter', a tasteless plateful of what I think were deep fried Iceland nibbles. I THINK it was bits of chicken, scampi and mushrooms with potato wedges - really horrible. My friends all had fish & chips - equally bad! I should have realised at the start when the bottles of tomato and HP sauce arrived. The beer and wine were OK, but thank God we were just there for a meal and not staying the night!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I’m usually very positive with reviews, but this place is really poor.
The entrance is like arriving at a shabby hostel - the room was not very sound proof (we could hear all the noise from the pub below) - the room was not clean at all, especially the kettle which was absolutely disgusting, and there was dirt around the toilet seat. The room was small and cold. The radiator came on for a few minutes, but we had no control over the heat. The furniture in the room was cheap and shabby.
Breakfast was disappointing also (tinned tomatoes, dry overcooked sausages).
The only good things were that the 2 members of staff we encountered were friendly and the shower was good.
This was in no way worth over £100 for 1 night.
I wrote to the hotel to complain before submitting a review, but had no response.
I would never stay here again - a terrible waste of money and a real disappointment in what was meant to be a treat for my husband.

Such a great pub - the landlords are absolutely lovely people - so friendly and welcoming - nothing is too much trouble. There is a great choice of food and it's delicious. Our go to place for a well earned Thursday work lunch - and of course Albie makes it really special - well done guys don't change a thing :-)

Everywhere was covered in thick dust and cobwebs. Toilet brush was absolutely disgusting. Paintwork was very dirty and needs a complete refresh. No outside lock on bathroom door door, so anyone could use, which meant having to take wash stuff up and down stairs every time. Not covid safe at all, no sanitiser or antibacterial hand-wash. Upon arrival the host wasn't very friendly and saw no one during our two day stay.
Just hang your keys up on departure, says how welcoming this place isn't. Complete opposite to the place we had stayed the days before at another place at a same price. Would not recommend.

Lovely pleasant staff at the bar , our room was separate from the building round the back which was really nice 😀

The staff is very friendly and the room was clean and tidy. I stayed only one night and would stay again. Overall good value for money 🙂 ( I paid £80 for a night). I would have given 5 stars if I had control over the heating as the room was slightly cold or not as worm as I would like it to be.

This is not a hotel and doesn't pretend to be. It's a nice pub with a few rooms. Right now they are desperately trying to recruit a chef but are finding it impossible. Consequently the lady publican is trying to do everything herself. There is no room service and no breakfast. To access your room you have to call her on her mobile to come and let you in and if you have any problems or queries they have to be dealt with over the phone too as she can't leave the bar. There are a couple of part-time cleaning staff who change beds, etc. The rooms are small and crowded with furniture - nowhere to sit except on the bed. All pretty basic but the beds are comfortable and everything is clean, especially the ensuite. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a small flat screen TV. Parking is difficult and there is a fair amount of traffic noise if your room is at the front. Overall it was OK, but we only needed to stay one night.

I really liked it here. A lovely traditional pub with excellent beer and the service was great.
