I ordered a bike in the spring and the level to service at that point was really good. They took me through lots of different options and helped me to ensure I selected the right bike for me. I returned around six months later to collect the bike and the level of service was very different. They didn’t explain anything about the bike or give me an opportunity to inspect it. There was no explanation on how to care for the bike, and they didn’t offer to set the seat and bar height for me. Really disappointing service from a independent shop with usually such a good reputation.

I took my bike for a repair to John Atkins Cycles Ltd a couple of months ago. I was first very happy to see they were doing the best trying to keep the place safe due to the pandemic. It is indeed very thoughtful of them. People working in the shop are very friendly, helpful and technical. Unfortunately an accident happened to my bike in the shop but they were very kind and fixed everything for me without even charging me. I will definitely go back in future whenever needed and 100% recommend them to everyone.

I took the good lady's e bike in for a service today. At the time of booking I was told the price and what it would include and advised that if any extra work was found I would be called. So I recieved a call to say that the bike needed a new cassette and a new rear tyre. I knew the rear tyre had cracks in it and I am very pleased they spotted it. On returning the bike to the wife she took it for a test ride and said it feels like a brand new bike not a 2 year old one that is used daily. Well done guys keep up the great work and fantastic customer service 👏

10 months ago John Atkins cycles serviced my bicycle. I had secured one of the £50 govt vouchers and I needed a new back wheel, so I thought it would be a good idea to go full service. I was a little surprised when they rang to tell me there was actually £250 worth of work required but as I use it every day and they refused to only do some of the work I paid up and the standard of work was very good.
Recently the crank started wobbling and I booked an appointment to have it fixed. There was a two week wait which wasn't ideal but I booked in and having described the issue on the phone I was quoted around £40. I enquired if there was any way of getting it done faster as I have an eye condition and my bicycle is my only means of travel. I was told "get the bus or train", which I found to be unhelpful but I had little choice other than to proceed at this point.
On the day I was due to collect I received a call and they said they had a quote for me. I found this surprising as I understood I already had a quote. I was even more surprised to learn the quote was for £308! They explained the work that needed doing- including replacing the back wheel and chain- jobs they had done in the service 10 months earlier- and replacing both sets of brake blocks -the front ones had been replaced 4 days earlier! When I challenged them on this- in particular why they needed to replace a wheel they had just replaced- I was told that they were not responsible for the quality of the wheel they had fitted, that was down to the supplier. I requested that they just do the work I required and they refused saying they were legally bound to do all or nothing- which is utter nonsense.
I have spoken to friend who have had similar experiences- a seemingly straightforward job is agreed and they then add on unnecessary extra work to bump up the bill. I am so disappointed as I used this shop all the time but it is really clear to me that they are now acting without honour.

In the end Giant on Clarendon Street fixed the bike for £28. Their service was friendly, and they are decent people. I urge people to use them instead!

Worked for this company 20years ago on Saturdays at the coventry store when I was 15 with Kevin, Gordon and Austin. Good to see they are still going strong. Hope Ray and Janet are doing well

I have bought many bikes from John Atkins over the years but after a near 10 year gap,.. it was time to get back into biking with my wife. John Atkins provided us with fantastic service and helpfulness in store and we settled on Trek mountain bikes which are proving to be perfect for us both.
I can highly recommend them as they have a great selection of bikes and gear and the service is second to none and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Its been 3 weeks since I picked up my Trek Pro Calibre, yet still I felt compelled to write this review. The level of service, professionalism and customer satisfaction I received from all members of staff at John Atkins Cycles Ltd was simply brilliant. We love our bikes and we spend a lot on them, so it is reassuring to know and feel that a high level of skill and understanding is used when fixing them and putting them back together properly. Since I have picked up my bike it rides like a dream. The only noise I hear comes from the tyres themselves. I did and will continue to travel past many bike shops on my way to John Atkins Cycles Ltd if in the future I need help with my beloved bike. Remember if it not on Strava or you didn't use John Atkins Cycles Ltd, then it did not happen. :)
