I cycle a lot and I have had servicing done at the big chain stores and by smaller shops as well. John's servicing is by far the best I've experienced. He completely overhauled the bike and it now runs better than when it was new. He's also great for spare parts which other places will say you can't buy. I won't be using anybody else from now on!

Great service, totally concur with all the other positive reviews. A 1-man shop, run by a man who really knows and likes bikes, hassle free, prompt, excellent. Don't be put off by the shop which looks a bit tatty, littered with bikes in various stages of dismantlement - its not Evans - but the service is infinitely better (and cheaper).

Firstly, the shop is a mess. There is no organization whatsoever and the window has been boarded up and in disrepair for the last year at least. The shop owner was extremely condescending. I went in for a tube to fix a flat and he completely disregarded my knowledge of what I needed, and wouldn’t let me pick the tube out for myself. I walked out without a tube and walked to a shop in Kingston instead where I picked up exactly what I needed without any issues. Normally I like to support small, local businesses, but I refuse to give my service and money to anyone who treats me the way that he did. I do not recommend this cycle shop.

Possibly the last “proper” bike shop in Surrey. The owner does all the work himself, to a very high standard, and is very honestly priced. He will always advise what is appropriate for the bike, with no pressure on the customer to spend more than necessary. His knowledge of all aspects of cycle maintenance (for example: from repairing ancient Sturmey Archer systems to fitting adjusting modern equipment) is second to none. He will do jobs that some of the corporate branded shops wouldn’t contemplate, or have the knowledge to perform. An absolute gem of a shop!

APPEARANCE - Don’t be put off by the outside, if you’re looking for a high quality repair then go here

PRICE - just over £100 for a new puncture-resistant tyre, new inner tubing, new rear axle, new dork disk, lubrication and removal of tight chain and labour. Very reasonable price compared to Evans or Halfords

TURNAROUND - for my repairs, was around 24 hrs, but probably schedule dependent

SERVICE - the owner knows what he’s doing, gives helpful tips about maintenance and where local bike pumps are

Walden's cycles appears from the outside to be a shop with jumble stacked high inside, a broken window and a totally uninviting aurora but if you dare to open the door you will find someone who has great experience and a super speedy service to fix your failing bicycle. He's kept me on the road several times now.

Very happy with the repair work carried out on my bikes at this shop and the pricing always seems fair to me. The store itself is a total mess and the owner might well be a ‘funny old sod’ as other reviewers have mentioned but I just don’t care about that personally.

Great little shop and I always take my bikes there. Don't be put off by the mess. The work is good, quick and at a reasonable price.
