What a fantastic shop and people. My new road bike bought from a large chain of cycling stores had received its 6 week service this week. The list of problems with the bike showed that the large chain store hadn't assembled my bike very well. A wheel was binding on disc pads and the headset had been put in dry and it was making an awful noise. Oh and the cables had stretched, which is expected though the result was I couldn't downshift the chain ring from big to small. So I collected my bike with those things supposedly addressed. Today was my first ride out post service only for the bike to drop its chain outside the big ring each time I tried to up shift. M's was the first bike store I happened across and thought I'd chance my arm seeing if they could help out. Not only did they correct the shoddy work of the big chain store they did it free of charge so I could carry on my ride. So credit to them and I'll certainly spread the word about their good deed. Support your local bike store!

I took my 4 year old German made electric bike to MS Cycles, it was in desperate need of a full service. They striped the bike right down, replaced many parts ordering and getting them from Germany. They kept me up to date on the bikes progress and I was shocked on picking it up, it looked brand new and runs like the first day I bought it. I cannot recommend and thank MC Cycles enough, clearly very knowledgeable on electrics and bike servicing, if they can do what they did to my bike I would think they could work on any bike. Go to MS Cycles first.

Great friendly staff and have been going to them for a few years now. Always ready to help out and have always done an outstanding job on keeping my bikes highly maintained. Always explained what's been done and what will need doing in future. Great job, fair prices and would HIGHLY recommend.
Thank you Maria, John and Martin

Amazing service, helped me out of a jam when I snapped a chain 5m down the road, polite, helpful, sent me to the pub for 30m whilst it was fixed!

I wanted to support my local Bike shop instead of Halfords down the road, but sadly not a great customer experience compared to the large chain. I kind of felt like I was a bit of an inconvenience to them generally, and it lacked that warm feeling of shopping that you normally get in an independent store. It was also really expensive for the work done and once serviced I had to take my bike back instantly to get re-adjusted after gear failure and then had to do it a second time a week later myself. Clearly had not been road tested. Also was told that they could not fit a pannier rack to my bike which apparently was too difficult so they said they would call when they had stock of the right parts, but they never called back. So I did it my self in the end in about 1 hour. Not a brilliant experience sadly.

The good: Free assessment of your bike, quote over the phone and if you don’t like the price you can pick it up with no charge.

The not so good: Only open Thursday-Sunday. Diagnosed an issue with my bike incorrectly. Didn’t listen to me when I told them my BB was not the problem.

The explanation: I dropped my bike at M’s hoping to resolve an issue I was having with my drivechain. The team were friendly enough and were happy to discuss the problem. They told me that they were busy at the moment and would call me the following day with a diagnosis. They called back two days later. No biggy, but would have been nice to be kept in the loop.

On the phone they told me that it was most likely a problem with my bottom bracket but would have to strip the bike and check things over and quoted me between £130 and £150 for the work and a new BB. I told them that it couldn’t possibly be the problem as the BB was recently replaced and spins freely without the chain on, but they were quite sure I needed a new one and didn’t offer any alternative diagnosis.

As I was so confident that the issue was not related to the BB I decided to collect my bike from the store and go elsewhere. The other place I took it to rectified the grinding/clunking issue as well as a service and cleaned my mtb all for under £100! No need of a new BB at all. According to other company it was just general wear and tear and gave me advice about what to buy/replace in the coming future. Problem solved.

Certainly not awful experience. It seems like a decent enough bike shop but I am disappointed they were content to take £130 or more of my money for something I knew didn’t need to be done. I cannot recommend M’s as far as servicing and repairs go.
