Edit: still waiting, now 8 weeks after estimated dispatch, on Friday I was told it was ready to build, today I was told they are still waiting for more components.
Further update: 3 months after estimated delivery, 7 months after order, I have finally given up, cancelled, and purchased an excellent Specialized bike. Amazingly the same bike is still available to order with a 3 month estimated dispatch - good luck to anyone ordering one. Recently I was told (a) the frame was here, but in the paint repair shop and then later (b) the frame wasn't here at all. I gave up attempting to get a proper answer at that point!
I contacted them and they just said sometime in June. At the end of June without any notification from them I check the status of my order and it says 15th July. Not a problem I though. Then I checked almost daily the delivery date, considering I had a big event to do with my bike on 20th July. The 13th July I received an email that the delivery is postponed to September!!! An absolute joke.
I contacted immediately the live chat for a refund and they gave me the wrong email! I found by myself the correct one and after 4 days I receive a call, they said there were delays on my wheels that if they could upgrade my wheels, funny enough I already had the top spec wheels on my order, means they didn't even revise my order before calling me for the refund.
Anyway, now the refund is done and I purchased a bicycle from Trek. 7 days delivery promised. 7 days delivery done.
This company is the BIGGEST pile of dog $$$$ in the world! I would NEVER spend another penny with them. And there attitude absolutely stinks!
Ribble - you are the worst bike company on the planet!
BUYER BEWARE!
They seem a well regarded and well established company - and certainly their bikes get great reviews - but the complete lack of contact with the company from the point of order, through to delivery and then beyond is absolutely appalling. The webchat doesn’t marry up with what is actually happening in terms of the processing of the order. It is very difficult to get anyone on the phone - and when you do, they aren’t able to resolve things any better.
Buying one of these bikes seems an unnecessary risk given you don’t know if/when it will arrive and what support you will get if there are any issues going forward.
I like most other people had a very long (8 months & 1 week) wait during which I was paying for the bike thru Cycle to Work but did not have the bike. This is clearly not great but the bike is fantastic - definitely the best bike I have ever ridden (a CGR-Ti), it is of a really high quality & very well made.
If you want a really great , high quality bike and don't mind the wait then get a Ribble, it will be a bike for life.
I have now had 2 Ribble SL Rs suffer from cracks in the carbon Isee blue bike pics) where the head tube meets the down tube (and I am not even that heavy!)
Whilst Ribble have replaced the frames, my interactions with and the level of service received from Ribble has made me vow never again to buy a bike from Ribble
I am not even going to moan about the amount of time it took to get a replacement the first time round, this time however it took nearly 2 months to get the bike back to me, it took them around a month to even look at the bike and only when I caused a right fuss
Over that 2 month period they ignored my upfront explanation of the importance of getting the bike back within 30 working days (they quote 28 working days to return) as I had a cycling trip to the Canary Islands booked, due to Ribble’s inaction I had to cancel the trip and lost money on the elements I could not cancel/insurance claim for, this was despite chasing Ribble every week during the first month.
A no point over that 2 month period was I given any proactive update, I had to ring in or email for an update, each time getting the same non committal “We aim for 28days” response
After many chasing emails and calls it got to the point where my new frame was to painted I was then told I could not have the same custom colours as before as they have changed paintshop from external to internal and no longer do those colours.
Finally last Friday (13th Jan) I get sent the bike back, again with no proactive update except the DX Delivery “Your parcel will be delivered” on the day it is set to arrive (I had to change my plans to ensure I was home).
I unpack the bike to find 3 chips in the paint, (see attached and there was no damage to the box and the areas damaged were under bubble wraps so I am pretty darn sure this was damaged priort to sending the bike back) and my seat post, saddle etc completely disassembled and the parts thrown into a smaller box in the bike box. Ribble provided no instructions how to assemble…..SIGH….. another 1 hour on the phone to chase instructions how to assemble the bracket and use to attach to the saddle and post.
I was then promised someone from Aftercare would call me re the chips on the bike and guess what…….NOTHING, no call, no email…..only after kicking up a fuss on their facebook group last night and multiple people chiming in about there bad experiences did someone contact me, purely from a damage limitation point of view IMO, and that is the story of the Brand, unless it publically looks bad they dont care
What a total mess! If you were thinking of buying one consider the above, if you have one good luck!
