After nearly 10,000 km, mainly in the mountains of the Greek Peloponnese, our Volt e-bikes were more than ready for a major service and thorough check over, which they certainly got from Big Bear Bikes with their Shimano computerised diagnostics, printed report and careful personal inspection. This led to new chains and sprockets and the replacement of all the hydraulically operated disk brake pads, coupled with a tensioning of all the nuts and bolts. One of us has been cycling for 73 years, and together over the last 30 years on traditional touring bikes, we have ridden across the USA (twice), Australia (Perth to Brisbane via Broken Hill), a 4,600-mile tour of New Zealand, and the UK to Istanbul, as well as climbing most Alpine and Pyrenean cols. So we know a good bike shop when we use one, and Big Bear in Pickering are among the very best.

Excellent service both over the phone and in person. They were able to deal with my problem in a really short space of time which I am very grateful for. The shop is well presented and laid out and the staff a well mannered and approachable. I can say that this is definitely somewhere I’ll use again.

I can’t recommend Big Bear Bikes enough. From our first visit, looking for a balance bike for my little girl, Alistair was very helpful and provided fantastic guidance. Letting her have a good ride around the shop trying it out. Every member of the team that we spoke to were all interested in how she was doing and made us feel welcome. I then collected it and it was fully assembled and we were looked after by Mike. Again, very knowledgeable and helpful. This was our first purchase but won’t be our last. Thank you Big Bear Bikes.
