Great location for exploring the area. You can walk down to the river Wye in half an hour.

Staff are lovely and very helpful. Facilities are a little dated but certainly not the worst I’ve ever seen and there are lots of loos and showers and hot water (could’ve done with some cold in 32 degrees!)

It is a bit pot luck with your pitch (we camped with electric) as a lot are on a slope, but there are flat ones. I’d recommend and go again

Just had a very enjoyable couple of nights (17/9/22 to 19/9/22) at this campsite. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming (we didn't even have to get out of our campers to sign in). The grounds were very well kept and the showers/toilets/washing up area (we used the block nearest reception) were extremely clean. Showers were free and the water was hot. The site was peaceful with wonderful walks through the forest immediately outside the gate(s). We would recommend this site and will certainly be returning.

Liked: Clearly marked walking trails from the campsite. Quiet, nice views, toilet block and washing up area clean and good hot water.

Disliked: Some pitches are sloping, bring blocks (I forgot them but wasn't the end of the world not too much on a slope). I was allowed to choose my pitch as it wasn't fully booked so could have moved to a flatter area but wanted to be near ish to the loo block so was my own choice.

Liked: The site is beautifully quiet and dark at night, so great view of the night sky. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean and the showers were hot and powerful, just what you needed after walking.

Please note, the site is listed as having a shop, there was no shop. However, we did visit at the start of the season, and they were apparently in the process of changing owners so perhaps that’s why. None the less we had taken sufficient supplies for our three night stay. If you need provisions the town of Coleford is a short drive away, approx 10 mins.

There’s a lovely walk to river Wye that takes you through the forest, but it is hilly on the return. You can also walk to Symonds Yat from the site. We had a a very relaxing stay in our camper and would definitely visit again. Thank you.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Beautiful location, with a range of stunning walks through the Forest of Dean available from the campsite. We saw Roe Deer in the (empty) grass area on the first evening and lots of small songbirds fly around the site when it's quiet (we woke up one morning to a robin singing outside our window - it was beautiful). Easily accessible from the main road, facilities are modern and plentiful. There is also plenty of room and lots of different accommodation types on site.

One of the best parts, however, was the warm welcome from the team. Barbara couldn't have made us more welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and we were always greeted with a smile and kind words. Her male colleague (I didn't catch his name) was equally helpful and friendly. Fab service!

Disliked: If Camping In The Forest's HQ are reading this: have more faith/trust in your team.

We extended our stay due, in large part, to how welcome we felt, but had to do this online as the staff on site don't have the facility/access to do this. This meant it went through PitchUp, just like the first booking, with no way of you knowing why we'd decided to stay longer. When you're in a remote location, with no WiFi and little mobile signal, this was no mean feat. Not only are you likely to lose business by not allowing this (if people can't get online), you have no way of monitoring how well your staff are doing. You'll no doubt receive complaints, but you have no way of monitoring good customer service on site, from afar, if you don't allow them to report back to you on visit extensions/upgrades/etc.

Liked: The pitch was hard standing clean and dry on a well maintained site. Levelling was required but not a problem. The site was spacious and set in woodlands as stated and close to the river Wye. A lovely find and we will definitely return, the children loved it especially seeing the deer in the woods.

Disliked: The toilet facilities could be upgraded compared to other sites, but they were warm and clean.

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff. Great views, good location for bike rides.

Disliked: It was so windy we had to take our awning down but obviously that’s not fault of the site! We had booked a grass pitch but were kindly put on a hard standing pitch which was great as it was so wet whilst we were there.

Liked: Clean, tidy and wonderful showers.
Both Ian and Tracey were welcoming and very friendly. The site is spotless and well cared for. The site is peaceful and quiet.
We will be returning!

Disliked: The speed bump coming up the hill on the way out…… half way up.
Very slippery and a bit of a struggle with the caravan. Ok in the summer, but a issue in the frost
