Liked: This little campsite was lovely. It was serene and just a little spit of bliss in an otherwise manic life. The camping field itself had access to woodlands or with a small stroll to the steam railway, farm shop and pub. The simple life meets camping, the owners really friendly and their collection of feathered friends made me feel like I was in a Beatrix potter story with some cute babies that made the children very happy indeed. Toilets clean and access to water n bins ideal.

Disliked: No shower facilities, not so much an issue for myself and family as we have befriended dry shampoo and flannel washes but may spark more interest if there was some washing availability.

Liked: We loved the tranquility, as well as the dawn chorus of chickens and geese!!! The site is very well maintained. We didn't need to use the facilities as we brought our own camping loo, but my sister's family used the toilets and said they were clean.

The site manager (Karen, I think) was also very friendly and helpful.

Liked: Pitch size very good and very clean. Grass was cut nicely.

Disliked: Sounds of the cockeral late night and early morning .

Entrance to the site is not good for modern caravans. First site we have ever had to use the motor mover to get it out.

Entrance needs to be improved. It says twin wheel and motorhomes accepted. Some would not get psssed the out buildings.

Liked: We absolutely loved the location and the way the campsite owners were very accommodating to our needs. Due to work we needed a late arrival and they were fully supporting of our stay. This was a deal breaker for us because other local sites were not happy to work with us.

The owners were very talkative and excited to meet new customers and yo have us stay.

We would absolutely highly recommend this site, and if in the future we find ourselves wanting to stay in this area again, without a doubt would be in contact to book again.

They provided all that we needed, bins, toilets and drinking water. If you're looking for a back to basic, friendly, camping location, this is certainly the place tou want to be.

Coming away from all the day to day reality into a peaceful retreat this is what you need!

Thank you so much

Samantha

Disliked: There wasn't anything either of us disliked. Booking was sharp, prompt and you were easy to contact to discuss our needs. Which again, flawless customer service.

Liked: Good price, lovely host, free range chicken and geese for the little one to see! There's no toilet or shower block but the portaloos were clean and the field neat and tidy. Lovely dog walk just up the road on the common, 3 good pubs a short walk away plus a steam railway line and a coop within walking distance. Level field for pitching our motorhome.

Disliked: A shower block would've been handy but didn't bother us too much as we had the van.

Liked: Location perfect and very quiet site apart from the early morning wake up call from the cockerels.
Easy walk to steam train and there is a equipped play area for children just next to steam train car park.
Dog walk through nature reserve within walking distance along road which can be busy at times.
Easy check in and friendly owner.
Plenty of room in camping field with no need for levelling blocks.

Disliked: Just to note access road narrows due to outbuilding on edge of track into camping field and due to awning on side of motorhome it was bit of a squeeze.

Liked: A lovely field to stay in with mature trees around the edge and very well kept grass, enough electric hook ups to pick from to get a great spot. The host was lovely and the reception was gracious. When this way again will definitely stop here again.

Disliked: Don’t expect a lie in because the cockerels on-site will have you up early, It’s not a complaint but they are quite loud.

Liked: We wanted close to Bishops and you can’t get closer than this. Quite a bizzare site TBH. It’s effectively a farmers field with some new hook ups, some bins and a waste disposal point. There is no toilet block, but 5 porta loos, 2 of which were broken. The one we decided to use was full, so it was a fun night.

The welcome was odd - you are asked to check in at the back door, but the first door seems to be an elderly residents side of the house and we were shooed to the other side. The owner that took our payment was very friendly.

The Good - Very cheap. Close to Bishops. The local Chinese. Friendly.

The Bad - the field is covered in goose poo. Yup, covered. It was on our boots, in our van, on the van, everywhere. The toilets are basically festival toilets and felt the same. The cockerels will basically keep you up from 4am on.

Other points neither good nor bad - There is a guy who looks like he lives there full time and there also seemed to be a homeless chap keeping to himself in the far corner.
