It's frustrating that the lowest rating I can provide is 1 star, as the overall experience and service is really not worthy of that.

The garage fitted my brakes last week and advised there could be an issue with the head gasket so a diagnostic was booked.
I received a phone call to say they had encountered an issue with the driver side window and I confirmed that this was an outstanding issue which requires a simple change of fuse that I have spares for and not to fix the issue (why they were messing with the window, your answer is as good as mine).

When I picked the car up, it was confirmed that there was issue with the head gasket and told relentlessly that it was not worth fixing and to get a new car and thought it odd that was no real depth to the conversation or any direction to let them know if I wanted it fixed.
When I arrived home, I noticed that the wiring loom in the door was unattached and the clip broken, the actual piece of plastic was on the floor of the car.
Without this connection, the window was stuck down and later realised that the passenger side window and locking of the car had also stopped working and to note that I locked my car when I dropped it off at the garage that morning.
I called the garage immediately expecting a very apologetic conversation and an offer to rectify straight away. Instead I got a very defensive man who told me it was already disconnected and actually asked whether I was accusing them of purposely breaking the car!
He then explained it may have happened when they had opened the door which not only acknowledges the fact that they were aware they had caused an issue but also that they had let me drive away with full knowledge that when I arrived home, I would be unable to secure my car. I would also like to highlight that if this statement is true, how hard were they opening my door to break the wiring loom?

He then changed the story again and suggested I could bring the car in to the garage in 3 days time, which really is not good enough.
With an unsecure car, I ended up calling my breakdown cover who I cannot thank enough. The man actually shook his head when he asked what garage I had been to and explained that he had seen a few people who had had similar experiences as mine.

He very kindly looked over the car and was in disbelief that I had been advised to scrap it noting he would be very surprised if there were an issue with the head gasket as all was in good working order.
My oil and coolant fluid were both low, oil dangerously low and was topped up.
Which makes me ask the question to whether my car was actually looked at?
Surely they would have noticed these issues if they had run a diagnostic after all the coolant fluid is a requirement for this?
So I ask the question again, what service did I pay for? It is evident enough that my car was not looked at or definitely not enough to come to the conclusion that it needed to be scrapped.
Though if they had not broken my wiring loom which had resulted in my breakdown cover looking at the car, I would have scrapped it on fully trusting their verdict and apparent expertise.

I feel betrayed by not only the poor service they have provided but the dishonest manner in which they have done that. I pay for a good and honest service with the trust that my car will be safe and looked after while in the care of the garage.
I can see that Shire Cars have responded to all bad reviews written so I very much look forward to the response espically as I can see a generic response is to claim a "spam review" and "we do not have a record of this customer."
Just as an update, I have actually received a voice mail yesterday on how they have a solution to the door??  I don't think I need to say that I am wholly not trusting of any solution they have to offer unless it is to offer a refund for services provided.

Good garage with reasonable price for services and knowledgeable staff. I have taken a couple of cars here for MOTs and to sort particular problems out. Staff have made an effort to accommodate me and my schedule. Mechanic was happy to chat through an issue found on my car and show me the underside of the car.

I’d highly recommend Shire Cars. An incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy garage. We had our car repaired and serviced by Pete, who was very transparent and supportive with any queries we had. The work was fairly priced and to a very high standard. We’re now lifetime customers.

Absolutely fantastic garage….. I’ve been looking for a first car for my 17 year old for a while, spotted one here… what a great service. They gave the car a complete overhaul, not letting it go until everything was checked and they were happy. Great communication keeping me up to date and one very happy son. Peter and his team were excellent from start to finish. They were aware that I was anxious about purchasing a car as I had experienced an awful service elsewhere. This meant that Peter went above and beyond to be kind to me and answered all of my questions. He did not pressure me at any stage and actively encouraged me to consider my options at all times. They were honest about their current turn around times however they were able to get the car ready for me much quicker which was a nice surprise. They understood that I worked the same times that they were open however, Peter stayed late twice for me in order to accommodate my needs. I would thoroughly recommend Pete and his team. I have no doubts that irrespective of whether you are buying a £5,000.00 car or a £50,000.00 car, the team will treat you exactly the same .

I bought a used car from Shire Cars in October and the service was very good throughout. There was a minor issue a couple of weeks after I purchased the car and Peter was a great help meaning that it was resolved quickly. In my experience this is an approachable, helpful and professional dealership who really value their customers and put great effort into the standard of service that they provide.

Staff excellent, very informative, and welcoming. I had my Toyota MOTed. And serviced. When I collected I was given a complete breakdown with costs as to what they did. I totally recommend Shire Cars. They are really value for money. A great job Chaps. Well done and I'll see you again next October.

Nothing but positive praise for the team at Shire Cars. Always honest, clear, and professional with sensible pricing. This is our "go to" garage for both of our vehicles, MOT'S, services, maintenance and even the smallest of issues, is never too much trouble.
Although Shire Cars is very local to us, even if it wasn't on our doorstep, we would travel to use this brilliant service!
