Economy Hire & Drive

Thoroughly unpleasant and rude employee/manager/owner, not sure which he was. Called in off the off chance as needed to hire a car that day. Man behind the counter said "what do you want". I said I wanted to hire a car and he got up went out the back and when he returned he said "I've got nothing until next week" I then asked if he had a van I could hire. He then replied, "I've just told you, I said I've got nothing until next week." I said, I'm sorry I thought you had said you had no cars, I didn't realise you meant vans as well as I had not initially asked for a van. To which he replied "I said nothing, that means nothing". Certainly would never go there again to hire any sort of vehicle. This man certainly needs some lessons in customer service. Go to Gapton Car Hire just over the road, brilliant service from friendly helpful staff.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I used this company for the first time today to hire a transit van, I had the van for 3 hours and travelled a total of 22miles before taking it back. Upon inspection of the vehicle by the employee at economy hire, he points out a small dent and crease in the panel door on the side of the van (which was unnoticeable until he pointed it) and says this wasn't there when I took the van out. The van was dirty and the dirt/dust was in the dent and crease the same as the rest of the van and there was a small bit of a slightly different colored white paint at the start of the crease where somebody had tried a touch up job. Also my father was sitting in the van from the time I picked it up to the time I dropped it off so obviously the damage wasn't done recently and was already there. As a result of this economy hire have kept my £200 deposit. I presume somebody missed this minor damage when the van was last returned as I did when taking it out and are using me to pay for it instead. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR DAMAGE U COULD NOT HAVE DONE!

Always a pleasure to deal with. Vans are always full of fuel and clean. Easy people to deal with and go out of their way to help.

Excellent service here hired large Van with tail lift for a house move. Cannot fault the service Rodney was excellent helpful and nothing was to much trouble after we had to move the date. Highly recommend best in the area.

Amazing service and great value for money.....I dealt with Rodney (The business owner) he was fantastic, the Luton van with tail lift we hired drove like a dream and the customer service was fantastic (we had to move the date of hire as our house hadn't completed on the date we expected, it was a week later) I would highly recommend this company....good old fashioned great service from start to finish
