Thrifty Car and Van Rental Portsmouth

A little challenging to find by road, map location is correct but Google Maps does not recognise where to turn off the access road. Instead it sends you round in circles, probably ad infinitum! Otherwise this Thrifty outlet excels in every respect. Highly recommended.

We were accused of removing the tyres (not wheels!) and replacing them with "budget tyres". Can you imagine? The accusation was withdrawn three days later, but no explanation was offered. Very weird....

Staff just cannot be bothered to help! Oh call back next week, how about you sort this out now? Surely you have access to calendars for next week?!

All goes well until you have problem and because you don't have powers as a customer you have to pay for employee's mistakes and bad decisions.
They are also good at hiding/not telling you that you will be charged.

Use them most weeks, very efficient and helpful

Dissatisfied. I was told on the phone that they did not have a 5 door as promised but a 3 door mini. No good for grandkids but no choice as it was take it or leave it, he was quite curt and clearly didn't have time for me. The chap that delivered the car was rude. He saw me come out of the house and said nothing, continued with paperwork. When he got out of the car he walked past me offering me a packet containing the key. He only spoke when I asked about a look round. He said they don't do that anymore because of covid, this was while he continued to walk away from me. I was told I would get a full talk about all the car had to offer, I did not. I have not driven a mini before or used keyless starting. Luckily my 10yr old granddaughter has been in one and told me how it works and talked me through getting reverse. Based on this I would not use Thrifty again.
I would thank the lady who drove the mini bus to collect the man who delivered. She smiled and said hello.

Tom is a hero - After our vehicle broke down on the A27 Tom met us out of hours and arranged hire car for us which we eventually returned to a different Thrifty depot near home. All handled perfectly and much appreciated.

Supper happy with the way thrifty Portsmouth have been with me, I spoke with a gentleman called Francis and collected my vehicle last week, after the week of driving I realised to didn't like the C3 I had been given the biting point in the clutch was high ect, anyway after a quick phone call with Francis he was happy to swap the vehicle no questions asked so I'm now in a fiesta, an overall pleasure to deal with and I will be using the company again, highly recomend 👍
