Hertz - Chelmsford - Widford Industrial Estate

Booked the cheapest car a Kia or similar. A £200 block was put on my debit card. They stated that I could not pay cash????? I drove the car and packed at home. When I started the car it stated 'Service' and needed to top up oil. I returned the car and after half an hour was given another car. I returned the car and was told that my debit card would be unblocked. This has not been done and having spoken to Hertz they stated that it could take up to 10 days.................£200 may not seem a lot to some people but so close to Christmas this was needed. Because of the block I had to pay for the hotel on my own credit card which was not a problem as I believed that the money would be transferred as soon as my card was unblocked. I am extremely disappointed. I have never had this problem with other hire companies. In fact I had an excellent service with Europcar........

Easy to hire a car but the location is seriously difficult to find. The team are pleasant and courteous. The car was clean and fairly new. Just don't get a PCN because there is a £42 administration fee. I had 2 of these because I forgot to pay the Dartford crossing fee each way. I had to also pay the £5 crossing charge. The administration fee is disproportionately high for a letter!

Bad attitude. Walked in at 5:30pm after already booking the car rental online. The woman had a terrible attitude because she wanted to go home. Told us the computer wouldn't verify our address so she wouldn't be able to give us a car today. Terrible service will not be using this company again. Waste of time.

Excellent, friendly but professional service. These guys went out of their way to help me out and I won't hesitate to hire a van from them again.

Very slow pickup. Extras are advertised at prices without VAT whereas van price is with VAT...
On drop off we where told the tank wasn't full enough. We had to go to fuel station in rush hour. Tank would only take 2 litres.
Wasted 30 minutes driving for 2 litres of fuel...
Van was good however

A good example of the Hertz brand. Hired a Luton van. Very easy and a fair price. Staff pleasant and helpful. Only criticism is of the Hertz website which is a bit clunky.

Nice car and the people were very friendly. £200 hold money is the norm for every hire car company.

Great hastle free experience renting with Hertz Chelmsford. The reception manager Diana is a superb lady, very helpful
