My partner needed to rent a car a month ago. He had booked a week in advance to avoid any disappointment. They took a payment of £488. He received a phone call early morning on the day he was supposed to pick the car up telling him the car isn’t ready. Then he receives a second phone call again telling him the car isn’t ready. The third time they call, they tell him they don’t have the car he wanted and that they could provide him with a smaller vehicle, which we did not accept so the member of team advised us to call the other branches to ask if another branch would have the car we asked for available. Of course none of the branches had it available as it was a last minute request that I had to chase up because of their mistake.
We asked for our money back as they did not have the car available. We were told the refund should be with us within the next 10 working days (which it never has been refunded). We’re still waiting for the refund.
We’re also waiting for the deposit of £250 we paid for the second car we had to rebook. They claim to refund you the deposit back into your account in the next 10 working days from when you drop off the vehicle, however it’s over 10 working days and I’m still waiting for both of my payments refunded. Last person I spoke to claims that a case has already been raised with their Customer Services team, and an agent will aim to fully investigate and provide a resolution to my complaint within 10 working days. However they have not responded back to me regarding this, yet they were very quick with sending me a fine I received and I am expected to pay Europecar a a fee of £40 (on top of all the payments I’ve already made) as they apply a fee to cover the administration costs they incur in handling the original notice. And iIf i do not contact them to make payment within 14 days they will attempt to take the funds from the card used on my rental. Which seems like a complete joke to me as Europcar owes me £738 in total.
They took extra payment as the car was not taken to the branch on time as they were closed at 12:30pm (even though they advised us to bring the car back between the hours of 8am - 1pm via email). They have been so quick with taking payments yet again cannot pay us back on time.
I will be happy to pay for the fine I have received however I will not be paying a single penny to Europcar until I receive my payments.
So imagine how much costumer's and how much money they can have in that one month. Don't even need cars or vans,is good turn over just from take people money and refund them after a month

The car wasn't fully cleaned when I picked it up, there was a very big crisp on the floor
