I hired a car from Budget car rental for 4 days in this branch, everything went really smooth by time I picked and at the dropped off. What really stand out for me was the customer service from Tahmid. He was very efficient when helping me and went that extra mile to make sure I had exactly what I needed for a car. He explained well the terms and conditions to make sure I knew the procedure well. Thank you so much.

We were slightly concerned having read some of the reviews but have to say, what an incredible experience!
We collected at London City Airport where Burak led us through the check-in process. We had received a phone call advising us on the documents we needed and the forms we should complete two days prior, which meant the whole thing was super straight-forward. We ended up getting a free upgrade to a bigger model which was great. Would use again and would recommend for any future customers.

I recently hired a car from London City Airport. I was very happy with the service; I was served quickly, there were two people on the desk, both of whom were friendly and helpful. The staff demonstrated a desire to help, and I liked the way that they did the check out in front of me at the end of the rental, to avoid any unpleasant surprises ( which has happened to me with another big hire company at LCY). I also congratulate Avis on taking care of the Dartford Tunnel toll payment: this really is an excellent initiative. When I spoke to the DART officer on the phone ( I had paid the charge myself and so I asked for a refund) He told me that he was unaware that any car hire companies did this, but he thought it an excellent idea, and one which all car hire companies would do well to emulate.

Fantastic service!!! The guys at the London City Airport branch were exceptional. Anas, Jules and the rest of the crew all chipped in to provide a good deal on the spot. Couldn't ask for more especially taking the family around on the weekend of the summer heat wave. Will definitely recommend and revisit!

I would give zero if I could. Seeing the other comments/complaints, it is clear that Avis, by default trying to rip off their customers however they can. My story: Rented a car. When I picked it up, there were minor damages all over the car. I told them that it is not marked on the damage sheet that I have to sign. They said no problem, just take photos showing these minor damages so I can use it as proof if there is any problem. A day later, i dropped off the car they gave me the deposit back. No problem. 2 weeks later, they sent a message that they will charge my card because they found some damage. Their photos were not showing anything. Damages were not visible because the photo were low resolution. No measurement and signed damage were visible on the photos. I sent back my photos and told them to cancel immedietly the claim. A couple of days later, they answered this:
"First of all, I would like to reiterate our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience that has arisen regarding the applied damage charge on this rental. Having reviewed this case with all the relevant information and paperwork, I found that the damage charge is incorrectly applied with respect of the available documentation. Therefore I would like to confirm that your credit card will not be charged for the damage."
I was so happy until they charged my card anyway a couple of days later. Woah. Nice move Avis. Again, I have to write them explain and run for my money because they are openly trying to rip off and steal from their customers!
It would be great to see that one day someone would start a real investigation/court case to reveal these systematic scams at Avis.
Good luck Avis

Outlet to avoid, they scam you on the damage charges!

After a delay of our BA flight, we were late (or just in time) to the collection desk, which closes very early.
The man at the desk rushed us out with the car key and pointed us towards the parking lot. At the car we felt uncertain about some small blemishes on the car but when we came back to the desk it was already closed. We tried to call but couldn't get through and therefore let it go.

We shouldn't have.

After returning the car in exactly the same condition as we had delivered it, there was no real check-out, and we were sent on our way. We didn't think anything of it.

Then came the credit card charge of several hundred extra pounds. We tried to get clarification on the extra charge but couldn't get through via phone or email. Only after refuting the charge with our issuer, we received the damage report claiming various scratches on the paint. Nothing material or substantial, and we are confident they were there before.

We objected but were pointed towards the terms that we signed off the car and Avis has the right to identify damages up to 12:00 noon the next day.

Avis does everything to protect themselves, you are left with high charges.

Avoid this outlet or take a 360 photo of every detail of the car and make sure to take the time to write down every nick and scratch on the interior and exterior.

In all my 30 years of renting cars professionally and personally I’ve never had this poor of an experience.

As a first-time car hire user, this was great!
My main contact, Sakeeb, really took the time to explain my options and offered me choice of cars within my budget. All the representatives were welcoming and helpful, even when I returned the vehicle. I was very impressed. This was an extremely positive experience and one I'll be repeating in the very near future

I was quite worried before picking up the vehicle after reading the countless negative reviews online. But the actual experience was actually the complete opposite. The process for picking up the car was super smooth, took less than 5 minutes (just make sure you request for a DVLA check code before hand and bring 2 address proof). I booked for an auto VW Polo, but was given an auto Honda Jazz in the same category. Although I was slightly disappointed as I wanted a Polo, but the Jazz was lovely with lane assist, cruise control, Apple CarPlay and all the latest tech. Car was in excellent condition and was fun to drive. I returned the car afterhour, dropped the keys in a box in the City Airport terminal, and got an email around 2pm the next day with a receipt showing everything is fine (no extra charges). Will definitely rent from Budget/Avis at London City Airport again.
