Thrifty Car and Van Rental Newport

We had a need to hire a vehicle in December 2015 to accommodate my father due to both myself and wife have vans, I had booked a vehicle online with an alternative company but thankfully they rang and left a message on my answering requesting a list of items you would normally present to a mortgage company when buying a house, further conversations later and I cancelled the booking,
I felt so lucky I did because I then found Thrifty, well what can I say I will never look anywhere else again to hire a car, every aspect of the service from front counter to the car was amazing, price, service, car, quality and a smile, you get my vote and I will be telling everyone.
As I am sure you have guessed I was very impressed, that's how to win business and be the best.

I use Thrifty Newport at least once per month and have done for just over 2 years now.

For sometime I had been trying to find a car hire company where you can hire executive and luxury brand vehicles from at agreeable rates.

The vehicles I have had from the Newport branch range from my usual BMW 335d M-Sport right upto Range Rover Vogue''s at very agreeable rates in comparison to any other UK based luxury car hire company I am aware of. The vehicles are always well equiped and the level of service that Newport provides is outstanding.

Very friendly and because of the excellent service and level of vehicles I can hire means I do not need to buy such a vehicle, merely just hire for a long weekend or week depending on what I need the vehicle for.

Recommended?, you bet your boots they are recommended.

Great staff, helpful and convenient....BUT...beware when you return your car....ANY scratch and they they will pick it up and charge you for it....even if it's a small scratch from somebody opening the door in the car park....very strict!

Friendly staff and good value hire. Downside is it is very difficult to access without a car.

Great service and friendly staff. When it comes to handing the vehicle back for off hire unlike others they don’t stitch you up!

Would suggest looking for alternative options as not recommended at all. I took out recent car hire which needed to be extended, I made contact to do so and was under the impression all was well. Only to receive 2 phone calls after this 4 days later telling me the car I was driving was missing as I had been given a Suzuki Swift when I was in fact given a Ford Fiesta. Therefore I was not insured and instead of extending my policy and taking payment they had closed my policy. The member of staff Jonny (very rude) who gave me the Fiesta was the same member of staff who insisted I was given a Swift. I have since had great difficulty trying to get my deposit returned and am yet to receive it nearly 3 weeks later!!! Disgusting customer service.

Update: No deposit 6 weeks later!!!

Further update: After having to wait over 13 weeks I finally received my full deposit back of £250 but only due to contacting and involving the BVRLA. During this time I was also contacted by staff member Jonny to arrange an alternative payment as my £250 was "overboard". I cannot stress enough how I would not recommend Thrifty in Newport. Disgusting!!

Be careful... you could be scammed with their small prints.. initial rental charge may seems competitive and attractive but watch for small prints.. that is where they make money..

Booked a vehicle from thrifty car rental at Newport when they advertise as UNLIMITED mileage and when returning they said their is a different slabs for mileage usage and charged me additional cost of £190 on the top of rental charge of £302. unlimited mileage was the key reason i booked the vehicle and very disappointed when the guy at newport centre Jony started talking about small prints. as a consumer this is a misleading and it shouldn't be advertise as unlimited mileage when it is not truely unlimited.

Not sure why this is on my timeline. Poor employers who turned a blind eye to bullying.
