Quaint café/grill in old windmill building and nice exterior covered extension.

Excellent service, and very reasonably priced food!

I had the half a vegetarian breakfast and nicely done toasts! Was filling and nice! Tea was seriously spot on. Nicely brewed and smooth! One of the best teas I have tasted!

By that I mean, I could taste the tea's natural quality without having the urge to add a little sugar. I also got 2 and a half cups from the tea pot!

Ambience nice and cosy. If you want to feel like you're at a day theme park, just step into the extension at the front of the café/grill.

Overall nice food at a very reasonable price near a windmill. You don't need to go to Holland now!

First impressions I like this venue
You order food at the bar, and pay before you eat and drink
one's Meal is brought to your table.
Quick service under 5 minutes
Attentive staff
No sooner have I eaten than my. empty plates are whisked away
SOMETHING I HATE.
All the more so, once I had finished my drink the empty glass was whisked away within seconds of it touching the table as if they wanted you out
If it was not by chance that I
Came here on a Saturday when a brass band was playing under the squares bandstand which added to the ambience I would have given this place Two stars
Will be back to try out their Sunday carvery next time to see if it fairs better to other venues I frequent.
Post scrip, Sunday Buffet disappointing

What a lovely place to stop for honest, cheaply priced food. Had a lovely soup and sandwich. Service very friendly. Highly recommend checking out the surroundings too.

This is the worst restaurant/pub/whatever it claims to be, place I have ever experienced in my entire life. The carvery is burnt and covered in grease - everything! The meats, the potatoes, the beans, the parsnips. All drenched in fat and burnt. The nut roast is the size of a children's portion, the staff are incompetent, rude and unable to do their simple job of just serving, being polite and smiling - not one smile! It took 4 reminders that we still hadn't received our food after almost an hour waiting. They didn't bring the high chair we requested so we had to go round asking other customers if we could use theirs when they were done with it, they didn't bring cutlery or condiments with the food, they just brought plates and dumped them on our table before walking off. Not even any eye contact! What is this place? It's a joke. One person in particular that should be sacked and never offered a job in hospitality again is a South East Asian woman, perhaps the daughter/wife of the owner. She tried to barge passed a customer on crutches almost sending that customer flying onto the floor. No regard, no empathy. She looked miserable, she didn't know they had a children's menu so said there wasn't one when later we found out there was, or she had been lying about that as she couldn't be bothered to get it. She is rude and doesn't deserve that job when there are so many more unemployed and more qualified, kinder, nicer people out there. Worst experience.

Amazing Cafe/ Bar The staff are amazing and really friendly. The food is amazing would highly recommend a fry up or the Bao buns. Also it is closely situated to the wonderful Wandle river with outside seating which is great in the summer.

My husband and I came here for the Sunday carvery with my brother in law and his partner and we will NOT be returning, despite my husband and me visiting at least once a month! When we got there on this occasion we parked our cars and a lady that worked there was leaving (you can vaguely see her in the photo I attach), upon leaving she was looking at us as if we were doing something wrong by parking in the carpark. My husband was waiting for her to leave so that he could park in a spot when she rolled her window down and told him that the car park was private and we couldn’t park there!? He explained that we were visiting the restaurant and she said it wasn’t a customer carpark – which it is. After some back and forth she rolled back her window, PULLED A FINGER UP AT MY HUSBAND, and skidded out of the carpark. How can a colleague at the restaurant treat their customers like this (I actually think she was a manager/owner, which makes it worse)??? Eventually we parked, got out to go in and asked another member of staff if the car park was for customers, as expected, they confirmed that it was. After having our carvery, we paid and left to find that the manager/owner/staff member had blocked us in to be spiteful (see photo reference). This was beyond childish and just shows the mentally of this establishment, we had to go back into the restaurant and ask the lady to move her car – she laughed, told us to wait and then came to move the care with a smirk on her face.

We have always parked in the carpark, all other customers have too, we did nothing wrong yet were treated with the utmost disrespect. Not been back since, and will discourage anyone to do so too.
