English heritage property. Limited parking on site , bit a town centre car park within 100 metres. This castle is a substantial ruin . The added bonus is you can climb the tower and get great views of the site and surrounding area. There is also a tunnel for the kids to explore
Limited facilities, mean I recommend bringing a picnic. Single toilet on site

We enjoyed our visit here very much. A lovely place, nice little shop, helpful staff.
Car parking off site but only a short walk from the castle and very cheap. Good audio guide and information boards.

We took our grandchildren here for a visit and their ages were 3, 4 and 9. Each found something that interested them, like climbing up to the top of the tower or going underground and running around. They had so much fun. The staff member lady was lovely and very helpful. We are planning another visit.

Gorgeous site that has some amazing ruins on it, really gives you a sense of how grand the castle would have been back in the day. Staff onsite were very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit.

Extensive remains if a ruined Castle in the middle of a small Leicestershire town, there is no parking at the castle but a couple of minutes walk there is a local carpark and cheap too I paid £1.05 for two hours and all day £2.60 (it was quiet full when we got there at 10.30am). The castle has extensive remains and earth works which give plenty of room for children to run some energy off. The main keep was closed due nesting birds but there is still plenty to see and the underground tunnels were open. It has the obligatory shop and toilets. I would also recommend St Mary's Church next door.

A site of ruined castle. Not an intact castle. Amazing fireplaces left suspended in mid air when all else has fallen away.
You’ll need no more than an hour at this site.

Great little castle, great views from the Tower. Shop and toilet on site no cafe. Recommend a couple of hours here. Bring a picnic if the weather is nice. No onsite parking nearest chargeable carpark 5 min walk .

Had a very enjoyable trip to Ashby castle. Being an English heritage member we didn't pay for entry (£7.80 per adult). The castle ruins are interesting to explore with some information boards to read. Toilets and shop are on site and hot drinks are available. It had a small car park too. Will happily return for another visit
