Visited today for the first time and will definitely be going back again. Our 8 year old son absolutely loved every minute, and we did too. Very friendly and welcoming staff, fascinating history and so much to see and do. The bonus for our son was the numerous interactive displays and he got involved in dressing up and did some brass rubbing. The story telling was wonderful too which he really enjoyed. The views from the top of the tower are stunning, the climb up the steps is definitely worth it. Fully recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed. Easy to park nearby (we used the Jolly Sailor car park) and lovely walk through the castle grounds near the river with a brilliant play area for the kids. Lovely day out

Wow Wow Wow. This castle is worth a separate visit. Ex capital of Mercia kingdom. Historic gem. Still magnificently monumental despite being surrounded by modern housing. Highly recommended for kids, a lot of attractions. Small shop inside and a large shopping mall just in front of it. Rare find, belongs to the local council.

I was utterly blown away by how brilliant Tamworth Castle is! I expected the equivalent of a small town museum, but this is a beautiful preserved piece of centuries old history, with fascinating exhibits based around a millennia of history, from Saxons to Tudors, Stuarts to Victorians. Absolutely wonderful, and a great place for kids - particularly the interactive game in the Saxon exhibit. Me and my sister (both adults) spent a very enjoyable 20 minutes playing on it!

Visited yesterday and really enjoyed it, very well preserved, steeped in history and a lot of information boards , rooms dressed in various period styles and many interactive areas for children where they can dress as a Knight etc. One way system to follow which is great as you don't miss anything. Great 360 degree views from the rooftop. I just wish the dungeon had been open 😪

Beautiful family friendly place. We enjoyed the flowery surroundings, awesome playground, ice-cream shop and more. There is a small entry fee to the castle, but its 100 percent worth the visit.

Living in Burton-upon-Trent and having been to Tamworth quite a bit, I've never visited the castle. Glad we did, it's absolutely lovely. Very well kept/maintained. Helpful and friendly staff. Interesting bits of information to read as you go through the castle. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful place to experience. The grounds, architecture, history, artifacts, the original rooms with furnishings and the view from atop the castle are astounding. You will truly see and feel how life was like through different time periods. The Castle has and holds many special and holiday events throughout the year which pre purchasing tickets is highly suggested. Very highly recommend!

A small castle / keep overlooking tamworth City Centre. Bought a family ticket, which we thought was very good value. Fantastic 360 views from the top of the keep. The staff was great trying to involve our child and very knowledgeable. Many rooms to explore, with very good interactive displays. Scrooge was the christmas theme throughout the castle with a very good kids activity trail. Small gift shop in courtyard. Parking nearby with a small charge. All in all, it's a great way to spend a few hours.
