Nice steep walk to get up there, but the view from the top is worth it. Spectacular scenery in all directions. The site itself is only small, won't take long to wander around and see everything, but if in the area is worth popping in.

A nice castle ruins, which you are able to get in and explore. Stunning views of Castleton from the castle. Worth a visit in the area but the £8.40 price tag for an adult may put off a few visitors but it shouldn’t as the picturesque views of the surrounding areas are worth the money itself.

A steep climb but worth it. Fabulous ruins with an interesting history, well explained by various information boards. Beautiful views. A small shop and very friendly staff made this a great way to spend an hour or so :)

Another hidden delight sitting on the hill above Castleton.

Well maintained throughout, with the castle ruins and the keep offering spectacular views of Hope Valley and beyond.

Be warned though, its a bit of hike up that hill to get there!

We decided to visit what is left of this castle keep on the hillside. Its English Heritage owned so usual fees apply - please be careful they never asked us if we wanted to pay a donation so it can be expensive for a family. Views over the peaks are amazing. Worth the climb to see a little bit of history

Well worth the ascend via the steep paths. We'll thought positioning of benches along the way to allow you to catch your breath.
Positioned high above a lovely village with lots of eateries and pubs. Parking tricky on a Sunday!

Peveril Castle is a ruin, for the most part. The main keep is the only structure still standing and to which you can gain access. English Heritage has done a nice job tracing its history through informative display boards. Given its location above the valley floor, you can see why it was built there, and why climbing up to the Castle is so worthwhile...the views are simply stunning. Mam Tor and the surrounding hills make this visit a no brainer...particularly on a nice summer's day. Parking near can be a challenge so get there early!

Beautiful ruins high up on the hillside.
Very steep zigzag path to reach the site.
Amazing views from the castle site across to the surrounding Peaks.
Reasonable entry price.
Good walking shoes or trainers are needed to explore this site.
Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a lead.
Worth a visit for the views alone.
