The espresso was excellent. It seemed to me the machine is taken good care of and cleaned regularly.
THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW BY NOT HAVING AN ALLERGENS LIST AVAILABLE AND ARE CHARGING EXTRA FOR GLUTEN FREE MEALS THAT ARE IN FACT NOT GLUTEN FREE!!!
My mother is a coeliac and so for medical reasons she cannot have any gluten, or have any cross contamination.
We called before visiting to check if they do Gluten Free breakfasts, they said they did and upon arriving we saw that you can pay an extra £1.90 to turn a breakfast in to a Gluten Free one, which we did, along with confirming with staff that it would definitely be Gluten Free.
Once the food arrived at the table, my mum started eating the bread and noticed that they sausages didn't look Gluten Free (they usually look unlike standard sausages), when the CHEF was asked, she said she would need to check as she thought all sausages were gluten free, we assumed she would just go and look at the ingredient list, in actual fact she had to call the supplier as she didn't have access to that information on site, the supplier did not answer so the chef told us that she thought they would be fine.
We then asked to see their allergens list, which BY LAW all restaurants have to supply (they also have a sign on each table that tells you that you can ask to see their allergen matrix) we were told they don't have one available, upon reminding them that by law they have to be able to supply one the chef said "yes I know, it's just one law" and then said it would take her manager at least an hour to arrive with the allergens list.
She initially refused to even give us her managers name so we could escalate the issue with him and insisted that my mother just eat what is on the plate as she was "sure it would be fine".
She only ate the 'gluten free' bread, which within about 15 minutes, was already coming back out so I highly doubt even the bread was gluten free or handled in a food safe manner.
They did eventually refund the supposed gluten free breakfast but not the extra £1.90 we paid to make it so, but the lack of knowledge on food hygiene and safety, along with law breaking, seemingly without a care, is unacceptable.
