The quality of service, food and facilities were wonderful. All of our guests were SO impressed and delighted. It helped make a difficult day (my sister's funeral) go so smoothly and eased the strain. All the staff were attentive and really looked after us.

Not sure what’s changed but went for a Sunday roast yesterday and it was terrible, bland, chewy meat and clearly not fresh - felt like a school dinner. Not worth £15. The last time I went a few months ago was great, something must have changed. Our whole party said the same as well as someone else I spoke too about their recent experience. Puddings good and service good.

What a friendly family restaurant / pub - my wife and I took our adult Downs Syndrome friend for Saturday lunch. The food was very good and value for money. Staff were all good and the landlady was absolutely superb - engaging, amusing and treated our friend with great respect and care. Thank you for making us all feel so comfortable.

We all 9 of us were requiring food but the first pub couldn't supply us on a Christmas eve afternoon. We sent a rep ( my son ) to nip up the road to the Lambley and they said yes if we can finish eating by 5pm. Time now was 3.45. Sooo
the service was excellent, the staff brilliant and the food top class.
Yes we finished by 5pm and i congratulate d the lady in charge for her top class service and going out her way to serve us when she had a very tight schedule. Top class and thank you. Jon Ford.

Fantastic place. Helped us out as a family gathering. Christmas eve every year without fail we as a family meet up and lay wreaths on graves of loved ones and always finish off with a meal and drinks at the pub nearby. The usual pub has new owners and they were serving some food but made it clear they could not be bothered when enquiring. The Lambley rescued us. Told my husband we could have a table for 9 of us, but had to leave at a certain time due to an event. No problem we went straight down there. Food was served fresh, hot and quick. Great portions, delicious and in a lovely environment. Attentive staff and made our annual meet up special. We now have a new place to continue our traditions and feel welcomed. Thankyou

Lovely friendly staff. They didn't have much hot food available which is understandable being a New Year's day bank holiday, but the staff went out of their way to get something for us.
Great pub 👍

On entering the pub the staff were rude and we were told that babies aren’t allowed in the bar when other babies were clearly at the bar. Then we were told dogs aren’t allowed in the restaurant. No apology or empathy just basically told to leave

I simply don't write reviews unless a venue truly deserves it...and this one certainly does.

A pre-christmas family meal for 5 covering 3 generations so like any good father of a troublesome 2 year old...I did my menu research and knew before we arrived what we were going to devour. I have an addiction to anything with the words 'honey roasted' in the title and the carrots took no exception to this rule whilst I was salivating over the elegant depiction of the lamb shank and its vegetable ensemble.

Starters arrived with the wine. The Rioja tasted like silk and my tomato soup was perfect. All seemed fine and cozy with just enough elegance from the venue and its surroundings to make it feel more than just your typical village pub.

Then the same main arrived for 3 of us.
Slow Braised Lamb Shank, Creamy Mash, Honey Roast Carrots, Broccoli, Red Wine Sauce £18

The lamb shank, placed in the center of the dish , on a bed of mash, with a couple of carrots and broccoli dotted around the circumference.

I admit I punch above my weight with my partner, so I have had to wine and dine her in some of the finest and not so fine restaurants to make her see the light. I consider myself very experienced in paying a lot for good food. So when I am presented with a boiled sliced carrot on my plate, with no hint of a sticky glaze or roasted glory.... I find myself in a predicament. My food excitement has gone, I'm annoyed and I am seeking answers. I ate both carrots and both pieces of broccoli and still found myself with a very large piece of semi-chewy meat and a lot of mashed potato. There was very little gravy so the mash was quite dry by the time I had eaten half of it - and there was very little to no red wine running through it.

So here the fun begins.

I point out to the young waitress that the carrots were boiled. She states she will speak to the chef and find out.

Whilst salivating over the prospect of deserts , I notice on two occasions staff walk towards us then walk away. I then got an answer which was just "I'm sorry we will not make the mistake next time" This made me furious! Great, so the next person who comes in and orders the same dish today will get honey roasted carrots ?!
So I decide to speak directly to the staff near the bar highlighting the errors in the menu and (on a £155 table bill) diplomatically asked for £5 per meal reduction to compensate for our culinary catastrophy.

The chef made eye contact with me and he said "I'm sorry I did'nt realize, we were just really busy" As far as I could see we were the only people dining at the time!

Then the manager came from around the corner and startled me as I was holding my 2 yr old. Without any introduction or apology his first words were "Ive took a fiver off the bill" I have had an extensive career in conflict management and customer service. I have never seen anything like this. It was rude, abrupt, with no empathy. "Im not taking more than a fiver off , its just carrots". He emphasized. I pointed out it ruined 3 plates of food. In the end I just paid the bill and left.

I'm told that it was now under new recent management and it was not like this before. I would never eat here again and the whole staff need to take a course in customer relations.
