I went last night with my friend for two portions of fish and chips. Cod we had. The cod was very good and a large size. But the chips were dark brown hard . Not crispy. Hard on the teeth. I rang to say about the chips. Informed that it most probably because the oil needs changing I been informed. The boss has offered us a portion of chips, but it spoilt the meal for us. Getting offered chips after the fish was eaten on another day. Not changing oil to me is wrong economy as I see that it make me not want to go again .

Best in town!

There are a few chip shops around Hockley / Wilnecote / Dosthill and this definately is the best! Chips are not soggy and wet. They also have paper bags to stop the chips steaming on the way home!

Hockley Fish and Chip bar - please also offer chicken!!!!

100% recommend!

Nice chip shop use it when working in the area, good sized portions only problem is the chips are sometimes great other time's rubbish I sorry to say, price wise not to bad, and a couple of parking spaces out side, hope this helps 😀

This used to be a very good chip shop, over the past year I haven't had a good meal from here, the chicken and Doner meat must be bought from a far cheaper supplier as the quality and taste is now awful so I stopped ordering it, now I tried the mini fish special and the fish batter was soft and the fish was like rubber the best thing about it was the curry sauce. I usually support our local businesses but come on its surly not that difficult to offer a quality product is it??

Can be a really nice fish and chip but but varies greatly on the time of day, when its busy its brilliant with fresh well cooked food, however mid afternoon and after the evening peak its not great.

I'm sorry, but we've just had chips etc from here and they tasted vile and were hard to chew. The sausage, saveloy and other food were great, the staff were very friendly, I'm just not keen on whatever oil they use for frying.

Figured we'd give them a go as our favorite chippy was closed tonight. Honestly I wish I'd of cooked.

Awful food honestly, the chips were quite cold, had a weird chewy textured, like they were old and had no flavour. The sausages that were cooked while we waited had quite a soggy batter. The fish cakes were chewy, cold, smelt quite odd. The curry was tasteless and very runny, clearly watered down too much. The fish itself tasted like cat food.

All in all, I'd recommend giving them a miss.
