I joined online , filling in my bank details , went along to the gym - met staff , got a tour of the gym & my card , no problems , very helpful & friendly . The direct debit was supposed to go out of my account on the beginning of December , it went out but then went back in again . 2 days later I received an email from sports direct stating that there was a technical error their end and the money had not gone out but they would try again in a couple of days . I then received another email a few days later , which had a very different tone about it , saying that I did not have sufficient funds in my account & it had been suspended - I would have to pay a £20 admin fee on top of the monthly payment to reinstate the account . I sent them an email explaining that I had done nothing wrong & it was apparently a technical error their end & I objected to paying the admin fee , but got an identical reply just saying that the account would remain suspended until I paid the admin fee. I refuse to do this out of principal as there was nothing wrong with my account - or direct debit set up & why should I pay £20 for someone's mistake at their end or a technical error . I have heard nothing since & my account is still suspended which is a shame as I liked the gym - but I am going to have to join a different one by the looks of it

I have been a member of this Gym for nearly four years, although I believe that standards have fallen considerably since Sports Direct have taken over. The level of cleanliness, time in which it takes to repair equipment and internal communication all could be much better. As a result I have given 6 months notice to terminate contract but received no acknowledgement. I have subsequently emailed seeking confirmation re date/final payment, still no response. Effective communication and administration appears to be poor. I am now seeking an alternative Gym.

Great gym to start to lose or tone yourself up. my one biggest gripe would be that the Jacuzzi or hot tub gets gritted and grimey early on and they don't seem to clean it on a regular basis.

they could do with an additional Lane on the swimming pool or narrowing in the ones currently. this then allowing for more people who want to concentrate on swimming rather than Casual swimming.

Clearer signage would be good in the gym as well for people on weights and organising upstairs. for example there is a bag which can be used, but it is not advertised. it seems to be only available to the personal trainer and the people that pay for that which seems unfair.

Ignore the bad reviews, for £20 a month this place is more than adequate. The staff are much more personable than the gym across the road which is more than twice the price. The changing rooms are always clean and in 18 months I've never smelt anything bad there. Yes, sometimes bits of equipment don't work, but that's to be expected. The main issue at this gym is the significant number of aged 50+ ladies who enter the pool and jacuzzi without showering, leaving a film of oil on top of the water and reducing the otherwise OK water clarity. I think some naming and shaming signs wouldn't be a bad idea.

Joined gym in new year, it’s not the best but had the equipment we needed. However the contract we took out was a 6 month contract and we were told that we could cancel this at any point during the 6 months and not be charged any extra fees. We cancelled our contract in the time, only to find another months payment was taken from our account. We then cancelled the direct debit and informed Sports direct of this and we requested the money to be paid back in our account, this never happened but we did receive a letter asking us to pay for 2 more months and administration charges or third party on their behalf would be involved to collect payment.
This was never explained to us, the management showed no interest in helping, only saying that the member of staff that sighed us up has now left!!!! DEFINITELY advise anyone who is looking to join a gym PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE avoid this one at all costs.

For £24.99 a month I can use all the gyms all over the country except the ones in London (which is understandable) for that money you can't go wrong, you could just have shower there everyday, it would be probably cheaper than heating the water at home!

The best selling point of this gym is the customer service. All the staff members are very friendly, professional and were transparent throughout the whole process of me purchasing my membership. They even let me try the gym twice for free before I signed up. Extremely good price for all that you get!

Sports Direct have done a great job post COVID-19, you have to book a slot (1hr 30min slots) clean the machines before and after. Then between session bookings, SD staff clean all of the equipment. I feel very safe to work out here. Staff are also very friendly.
