Lovely place. Tasteful decor. Didn't eat there this time around but did enquire about gluten-free options which we have been advised they have many. Had an ale or two. Relaxing atmosphere with a warm ambiance.

Be aware that the prices you see on the website, for food, are out of date and there has been at least £1.50, added to some meals.

Friendly and welcoming staff

The menu isn't huge, but has some weird and wonderful portions, including Lincolnshire poacher and truffle custard to start, hake Kiev, mussels, rib & chuck burger (just a beef burger really), egg custard, baked Alaska or cheese board to finish.

Lovely open plan restaurant at the back in an extension.

Seemed to be able to cope when there were only a few tables, but once it got busy, the staff seemed a little flustered, so much so, we had to wait over 30 minutes for our desserts, due to them being behind with checks.

No one checked on us to see if our meals were ok or if we needed anything.

This place isn't cheap and this is down to the fact it has recently been awarded an AA rosette.

The food was very nice, but I won't be rushing back.

A lovely space and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Prices are competitive and could stand being a little higher.

The person I was dining with enjoyed his unusual dish of hake Kiev which was beautifully presented but my traditional dish of gammon and chips was disappointing with too large chips and a very thick and chewy piece of meat. The egg, which I had asked to be lightly cooked on top, was almost leathery. However, everything else was very good and the coffee and ice-cream dessert was enjoyed hugely by the person sitting opposite me.

One thing to be aware of: the sample menu shown on the website IS the menu. It isn't particularly seasonal (suet pie is not what I would consider a summer dish) and I suspect it doesn't get changed very often.

We have had lunch here in the past and that was excellent.

Excellent in many ways, but if you are imposing a 2 hour time limit on table occupancy please ensure that orders are taken quickly and that a wine list is provided on first request. We had to wait for the wine before starting our main course.

Popped in for a drink and food in the beer garden while on a bike ride but they had stopped taking orders for dinner by that time.
Beautiful place and will definitely go back.
Someone else's food came out while we were there and it looked amazing!

Great pub for a quiet drink mid week. Really well presented, staff were very friendly and the food looked very tasty (although I didn’t eat).

Had a lovely meal to celebrate our 30th anniversary and share our celebration with a close friends birthday. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff, made to feel very welcome, a very covid safe environment. Lovely bottle of champagne and great food.
Thanks to the chef and all the excellent staff.
We will be back soon.
