Oh what a beautiful place to visit 😊 it is very tranquil and magical, when you walk in the forest one moss is so soft under your feet it feels like you're walking on clouds. We got in through the little pathway on Lees Road. You would need to drive slowly down the country lanes as the forest is not signposted and very few footpath signs as well. Furthermore you would need to find a suitable place to park so you don't obstruct the already tight country lanes. But this is not hard to find. There are lots of sheep grazing in the fields nearby so if you got doggies that are not good around livestock please keep them on the lead. Once you get to the foresty park you can let them off for a little run but as you go up towards the Nine Ladies you would need to keep them on the lead. Nevertheless it is a wonderful place to visit and I'm happy we did. We will definitely be going back again, maybe with a little picnic next time. 😇

Such a peaceful place!
Parked the car about 15 mins walk to the stone circle itself, easy path to follow but muddy on a wet day, so bring your wellies if you're heading out in the rain!!!
Once at the stones, there is multiple paths you can take with stunning views all around.
The stone circle is in a big open space of green, hard to miss it, as there is also an information board that explains its history. It brings a feeling of being very centered and a sense of calm. It's really beautiful and I would recommend to anyone who is in the area to go and explore.
Saw many dog walkers, so dog friendly!
My only downside is there isn't any bins as you're walking, only at where you can park your car so if you're planning on a picnic or your dog needs the loo, please take it with you and don't leave any litter!!

Lovely woodland area that is well preserved. Walks available throughout the area that look out over a beautiful valley just outside the peak district national park. The stones themselves are rather small, but one can feel the historic energy. Natural beauty and splendour contribute towards a peaceful area for public to enjoy.

Please do not take fire or bbq as there are many burn patches, probably due to the incessant need people have to cook richmond sausages or equally unpleasant meat items off cheap one time use only bbqs.

Bring a picnic instead!?

Etherial, strange, beautiful. Fungus is among us, a mycologists dream, very autumnal colours, beautiful weather. Steep walk but worth the effort. Took the route that spirals up from the abandoned house, lovely water spring, strange stone ruins along the way. Very curious. The stone circle was busier.

A few people walking round touching a circle of 9 stones...'the Nine Ladies'. This is a common sight here, along with people placing sticks, leaves, flowers, pettles and other items in the centre. I prefer just to walk here in the wooded area and enjoy the views and bronze age monument on Stanton moor.

A lovely walk over Stanton Moor to see the Nine Ladies Stone and the King Stone.
Along the way is a tower Folly.
There are also lots of little areas you can get of the beaten track to see parts of the old stone quarry works too.
It was quite misty while we were there but it didn't take anything away from the place, in fact it added a certain mystery to it.
