The installation team led by Danny and backed up in the office by the all-knowing Marsha and Linda were efficient, thorough and a pleasure to have on-site, coordinating well with our builder. Our neighbours also used Open Living before us and had a few issues at installation, but we believe these were mainly due to a supplier issue. All our windows, doors and roof lights went in as planned, well secured and sealed, with no damage.
The only little point of feedback on their whole process is that the final quote and specification can spread across more than one document which did add a little uncertainty. This meant we had to double-check exactly what was coming. An all-inclusive final statement of all the options would be good. However, with a little bit of checking everything did come exactly as expected and we are extremely happy with the finished project.
We would definitely recommend Open Living.
From the beginning of the project to the end, we received a very professional service and they went above and beyond to ensure the install was completed to a high standard and within our tight timescale.
We encountered an issue with the front door lock (thanks to our dog) after a couple of weeks and within two days Danny had arranged for this to get replaced and in full working order.
I cannot speak highly enough of Danny’s and Marsha’s service and professionalism and also the installation team, especially during some tough times last year. We were kept up to date with regards to installation and manufacturing and are extremely satisfied with the end product.
Thank you again.
I am usually very positive when leaving feedback for local businesses. Unfortunately, it is impossible to do so with Open Living. They were fine when I initially hired them. The problems started when they had to actually do some work. Open Living were awful with timing unless it came to taking payment from the customer. They didn't show up on the arranged installation day without giving any notice, they didn't finish the job on the day they came, and they didn't finish the job, the 2nd time they came (leaving issues such as windows not opening properly, scratches, etc.). Then, for 3 weeks after that, they were hiding from me. Once I included Which Trusted Traders in the communication, the director of Open Living replied within 6 minutes to arrange the next visit – embarrassing for the trader.
After the last visit, some of the problems were finally fixed, some not. Another example of the appalling communication skills of Open Living is how I was told that Open Living would check with the glass provider how the scratches on the window will be fixed and 2 days later I was sent an email that the job is completed and was asked if I can send the final payment (no explanation, nothing). So I had to chase Open Living to understand that the glass regulation for scratches is 5mm more than the scratch on my window. Then, only, after including Which Trusted Traders in the communication again, I was offered a replacement for the glass and the sash (to have the scratches fixed), but I decided to keep the product with the scratches on it, instead of having to work with Open Living again.
All of the above is in the context of Open Living knowing that this is an important project because they are doing a job in a bedroom where a newborn baby will be sleeping and the baby was expected very soon, so any delay would be a massive problem.
All this shows what a disjointed business Open Living are – non-existent communication skills, shocking customer relation ability, and negligence when doing the actual work. In my opinion, Open Living care more about receiving payments and Which Trusted Traders recommendation than they care about providing their customer with an acceptable service. My advice – avoid them. Honestly, I wouldn’t hire Open Living again even to install a pet door.
I see that a few of the other reviewers had a similar experience to mine, so it is pretty clear that my case is not an exception. I am attaching pictures and a video that illustrate some of the problems and clearly show in what condition Open Living left the product before they went into hiding for 3 weeks.
