Nice, clean, well priced hostel in central Exeter. Used private room for one night, heading out to Dartmoor, and found it perfect.

Arrived very late (after 10pm), found the staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Nice atmosphere in general, even on a Saturday night it was calm and friendly. Had a peaceful night with no disturbances. Plenty of showers and toilets on every floor.

Recommended.

Seriously itchy hole after sleeping in this hostel. I believe I may have scabies or another form of ‘bed bug’ - fellow roommates have also reported symptoms of a similarly itchy nature.

Overall fairly dire experience. Would not recommend but if you do stay bring your own sleeping bag or some aloe vera to soothe the body afterwards.

Shower was fine - 2 stars.

I've visited Globe several times. Overall its a nice chilled hostel with friendly and helpful staff. All the appropriate facilities are well maintained. It's also very reasonably priced for the location.

It can do with some updating in the dorms in comparison to other hostels I've stayed in i.e., bedding and repairs.

my daughter was moving into Exeter university and anticipated staying the night. Because we’d left it so late all hotels were full we booked globe backpackers Exeter, pictures on website didn’t look too bad and double room £50 per night. On arrival male receptionist showed us round however smell of hostel was horrendous, carpets were filthy with flies in room. Smell was so strong and overpowering I was retching and coughing - this is not a backpackers hostel, but a homeless hostel. Homeless people deserve to stay in decent conditions which this place does not provide. Conditions were so bad I could not stay the night and handed the keys back, I spoke to the receptionist but doubt I will get my money back. Strongly recommend that you buy a tent and pitch in the local park before staying in this hostel - atleast you have fresh air.

For this price, I think its like one of the best experiences you can get. Friendly reception, showers and bathrooms are neat and tidy. Beds might be little bit old and crampy but not too much of a problem when you have exhausted yourself around Exeter. If you want some privacy, you might want to book a room for yourself instead of staying in one of the dormitories, in which you share a room with a few other people.

The staff are lovely & it’s basic. No bells or whistles, but I can’t yet find fault with providing a warm bed for very little money. If you’re used to hostels, then this will be a good cheap place to base yourself in Exeter.
If you’ve never tried a hostel, you may be freaked out by the basics and I’d recommend you book a hotel instead. Although you might want to pop in to say hello to the owners who are lovely.

Hi. Been reading the 5 star reviews, and can’t help but wondering - is even the same place? Perhaps I showed up on an off night, or trod on the wrong foot? Maybe it’s my face? The face that quite literally had the front door slammed on it. No lie. And why? I dared to show up at 8:00 PM. Clearly didn’t know about the (very strict) check in times and was told with no hesitation that the Hostel was closed, sorry. Innit? I did book
on the website, but...? No go. Fair enough, but talk about a frosty reception. Before I could explain my situation or find out anything else about the place the gent (who seemed quite upset that I had interrupted his cigarette and his forthcoming supper) literally shut the front door on me, mid sentence. So... I slept in my quite small car with no sleeping bag or blankets. (And it is December) I was not planning on camping or staying in a hostel, however the rooms in Exeter had trebled and quadrupled in price from the AM to an average of £200. (I had hoped to pay on check in bc my bank has suspended online payments, after a scammer got hold of my bank details during my overseas travelling this past year) So there it is. My sour taste of the Hostel- maybe its a one off-dunno. All I can say is- show up on time. And don’t get between buddy and his nicotine😂🙄

Couldn’t believe how cheap this place is! Good powerful showers and lovely clean rooms. Had a great sleep every night! Friendly and helpful staff. It was such a welcome relief from when I had been camping!
