It was a nice hotel very clean and well done for the price! The staff are so helpful especially the night manger lucky! When Howe first arrived we were really annoyed and tired but the entire staff including lucky tried their best to check us in and lucky said they prioritize their customers and that gave me a glimmer of hope. When we were leaving for the airport and having a hard time with the Uber he tried to get us a car as well. Overall I enjoyed my stay at the hotel the staff especially are amazing people there was this one Indian man I saw at breakfast he was always nice and talked to me and my family !

Within walking distance of Stevenage train station. Welcoming and approachable staff.
Room was excellently appointed and well laid out. Clean, tidy room. Air conditioning was efficient and fairly quiet.

The hotel is situated beside a main road, however road noise within the room was negligible. Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here for a week a year ago on business and a couple of days recently for leisure. The service is excellent, I asked for a high floor corner room by email and they were more than happy to oblige. I explained to reception I was on a getaway from work and just wanted to lock myself away for 2 nights to relax, she took care of everything so I wouldn’t be disturbed. The rooms are fantastic and a really high standard, probably more comparative to a Crowne Plaza level than a Holiday Inn. The restaurant is really cheap by comparison to other IHG hotels and best of all standard check in is 2pm! The only downside is the expensive parking (£12 a night) but the room rate is cheaper than other local hotels of lesser rate. Highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms are spacious. There is a tv, desk, chair and lovely big comfy bed. The bathroom is big, fresh towels and a shower which i find more convenient than a bath so thats a bonus. The selection of food here is more than satisfactory. Breakfast was great. The staff are so helpful and happy all the time. They talked to me at breakfast and the evening meal too. They work very hard and look smart and make you feel at ease. The price of drinks and food is fair.

We stayed for 2 nights last month as part of a wedding party. It was comfy, clean and the staff were very helpful and professional. In particular, Sue was a complete star at breakfast time, nothing was too much trouble and she’s a real asset to the hotel.

First time of staying here.
Wasn't too happy to start with, as we're told room would be ready at 2pm. after a long drive, we arrived at 4pm. We're rather tired and wanted to rest and freshen up. As we were meeting friend in the evening.
We were told on arrival (4pm) that room was dirty.
and that we could go in it yet.
Eventually at 10 past 5 we were given keys to our room.
It was a lovely room though.

This was my first hotel stay since the pandemic. I used to use hotels relatively often with work and travel but have largely migrated online. I’ve been an IHG rewards club member for years and would usually choose their brands. I would have thought that Covid would make hotels more vigilant about hygiene and cleanliness. Not, it would appear, at Holiday Inn Stevenage.

After traffic jams turned what should have been a three-hour journey into one of almost eight hours, I was ready just to tumble into bed once I had checked in (they no longer seem to greet Gold Elite guests as such). Tired as I was, it was hard to find a comfortable spot. The mattress had certainly seen better days. I had no choice in the matter. The springs were so worn, I was rolled into the soft centre like a marble in a sieve.

It was in the morning that I noticed how poorly my room had been cleaned in preparation for my stay. As I walked into the bathroom, I saw the stain of a previous guest’s faeces on the pedestal of the toilet. Drawing the curtains to see what the weather was like, I noticed somebody’s nail clippings on the windowsill.

It wasn’t all bad. There was a lovely breakfast spread and a very pleasant and well-spaced breakfast area. The ladies on duty in the breakfast room were very welcoming and smiley.

I had to get to a meeting in Cambridge so didn’t register my dissatisfaction (and disgust) with the lack of hygiene in the room cleaning when I checked out. I did, however, have to pay an extra dozen of His Majesty's pounds for parking overnight at the hotel, on top of the room charge. The receptionist asked whether I was happy for it to come off the credit card they had on file for me. I replied, “No thanks, please use this one,” holding up a different card. She then took the payment from the card on file regardless. When I asked why she apologised and said that she hadn’t heard me. But why, in that case, not ask me to repeat my answer – it clearly didn’t matter to her what my answer was, she was going to charge that first card whatever I responded.

All up, it was the least satisfactory Holiday Inn stay I can remember in this country and hardly gives me encouragement to visit my clients and use IHG hotels rather than meet them in video calls online.

Friendly and efficient check-in service. Stayed 2 nights starting on a Sunday, parking is limited and was full by Monday. Ate downstairs on Sunday - no salad available. Breakfast is good, eggs can be cooked to order. Room (5th floor) well appointed and bed comfy, but bathroom toilet and shower a little shabby - hot water seemed to be in short supply Monday morning! Would stay there again😃
