Mercure London Paddington Hotel

Not sure how this hotel has been listed at 4 stars.

The room was ridiculously small, not even enough room to get changed. The bathroom was dirty, mould over the shower, the shower blocked so could not drain and hairs over the floor.

The bedding was dirty, pillow case had what looked like mould covering it, the duvet had multiple marks all over it.

Advertising as aircon however ours was more like an air blower system so room was very warm.

Very disappointing for a well known chain hotel, and even more disappointing when the room rate was £216.

Excellent location, kind and helpful staff.
Very tiny room and bathroom that would need a massive renovation.
Breakfast is optional, but good quality. Capuccino is not included just a long filter coffee.
All this for a rather high price tag.

We booked for 4 nights. We arrived to the room and we had a problem in the bathroom. With no hesitation, we were offered to move to a nearby hotel by the same management, Hotel Indigo. We were upgraded to a better, and much bigger room. Sabrina helped us to move all our stuff to the indigo hotel, and compensate us with the breakfast at the near door restaurant. This is called a great and understanding service. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends, and will be back soon. Thank you so much!

This hotel is one of my favorites in this area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you choose this place you definitely won't regret it.

Room was a bit small, however service and staff were very nice. Complementary coffee, in the lobby, free gym, mini bar.

In the room, which was large and well equipped, you can hear and feel the trains passing through Paddington Station, there was work ongoing next door and the air con/heater was very noisy. The room was cold so needed the heater on all night, plus train noise meant I didn't sleep much or well. Phone in room didn't work either when calling reception. Staff were nice enough though. Won't be staying again.

You cannot fault the service in this hotel. It is very very good and the staff are really helpful, but there are a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly, in room 419 there is a washing bowl with several cracks and if you are going to go for a double bed, you should be aware that there's a crevasse between the two singles that you could fall into.

Stayed there in January 2023 for 5 days.

Rooms are old, humid. Our bathroom ventilator wasn't working and room carpet was dirty. Also everyday my key would stop working and I had to go downstairs to make it work again.

Service was OK, staff was very friendly. Breakfast is at the restaurant next door, nothing much to say about it.

Location wise was good. Pretty close to Paddington station

We were moved to this hotel, as the hotel we booked with messed up our 2 night London break. We had to stay here on the 1st night and had a very disappointing experience. We checked in late and although the reception staff were friendly, the rooms we were given was ridiculously small, the decor and bedding looked very tired, the TV and telephone in one of our rooms were not working so the receptionist had to pop up to fix this, the shower gel bottle spout didn’t work so I had to remove the lid completely, you could see that things do not get checked over properly, the room was also very warm. The breakfast was ok but the service was slow, the coffee was terrible, and we didn’t receive everything we ordered for breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel and I am not sure how they can justify the room rates. The only benefit is it’s very close to the station.
