On arrival the staff were very short and rude with us.
Within a few sentences we were being asked for a £50 security deposit that we had no idea was going to be needed, and to top it off it can take 14 working days to come back into the account.
Then we were informed that the room they had intended for us to be in (aka, the one we had booked) was now taken so we could either drive there ourselves (we didn’t have a car) or be given a taxi ride to a ‘sister hotel’. The taxi service was unavailable, so after waiting for 15 minutes with no directions of where we might be staying.
Eventually they ‘found’ a room we could stay in for the night. Up in the corner away from all the other rooms, it was a little dirty, very dusty, and generally not somewhere you would pay to stay.
The shower was broken to the point of you could either burn yourself with the water, or freeze. The tv controls didn’t work properly so we had to turn it off at the wall. Even the taps didn’t get lukewarm.
The breakfast was okay but definitely nowhere near worth staying for. Avoid staying here as much as you can.

Clean rooms, no A/C but fans provided. Professional receptionist. TV with access to Netflix. No noise from outside side traffic. Right next to station/public transport. Only remark would be that you can hear the neighbors upstairs when walking. But all in all a good experience for money paid

The room technically has everything you need and the hotel is situated in a practical location close to the train station, however every time I check in there’s some misunderstanding in regards to the check in, f. Ex;
when booking online, I pay by card and select a check in time, between 11:00-12:00. I arrive at 12:00, only to be told to wait so the staff can check it the room is even available, seeing as that is dependent on availability?! Nowhere when booking does it say that!
Furthermore, on top of the £50 check in/booking fee, they take another £50 on card as you check in: for the ‘safety of their room’. A weird practice, I have never encountered anywhere but here? So while the rooms are affordable, technically they cost double what a travelodge room would cost, seeing as you’re expected to pay upfront and have an additional 50 quid in lieu of safety deposit!

The rooms are usually clean, well stocked. My main pet peeve; they don’t serve spoons with their mugs and teas/coffees in the room. … random.

Its a scam. I came from Manchester, when I arrived they told me they had no rooms while they already took the payment. They told me go to the next hotel (York Hotel) which in reality is a hostel where you share the room with others. When I complained and asked for my money back they said they can’t give my money back even if I don’t stay there. DO NOT BOOK. AVOID.

We payed through Booking but the website reserved a wrong room (too small) for us. When we called the assistance, Booking didn’t want help us. Mariam, from Lucky 8 Hotel, were so kind with us finding the right solution without any charge. Thank you!!! I really suggest this hotel!!!

The room was utterly filthy, dirty used mugs and spoons, stained sheets, FILTHY bathroom, sticky floors that your shoes would get stuck too, food splattered on the walls, pillows so matted it had turned into 2 clumps, lights hanging off the walls and dust thick like I’ve never seen before.
If that wasn’t enough, upon arrival they told us our booking hadn’t come through despite booking a week prior and having all the confirmation with us. They then demanded another £50 deposit despite our booking saying no additional fees required. We were told we would receive this refund in 3-5 days, it’s a week and a half later and we’ve still not got our money back and they are ignoring all our communications with them.

Rooms good size, beds a little too springy, needs a little attention maintenance wise, but reception very good and well placed for local amenities and there is parking which is well worth it

Poor hotel. Breakfast terrible. Rooms not clean, things missing like light diffusers and leaking showers.
